Waikoloa

"This property is wonderful. The kitchen is stocked with it all. So are the bathrooms. But my favorite is the pool. It’s clean, 80 degrees, private and our total relaxation area. We ate most of our meals outside and under the stars it was gorgeous. The only issue was an extremely steep driveway but since we only parked our car on it…lol…who cares. Oh and only 8 miles to the best beaches! You cannot go wrong! "

The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort

8/10 Good

"Westin Bonvoy is basically the "middle tier" of the Hilton, Westin, IHG triad (with Hilton worst and IHG best across whichever tier of hotel you stay at, in my opinion). This resort was very well kept however, and the pools and rooms were clear. The staff was very friendly and helpful and, surprisingly, it was a fairly quiet hotel, too, which I really appreciated. You want to relax...not listen to constant blaring music. It also didn't overdo the Hawaiian theme, which I also liked. The main restaurant was Spanish, and quite good. The beach is exquisite. If I had a minor complaint it was that most of the food was grossly overpriced. The standard black coffee at breakfast was $8. Come on. I think they got us for about $600 worth of food for two people over two days. So just factor that into your total costs. There aren't many food options outside of the hotel, either. Closest town is 30 mins away."

Ocean Front Home with a Sandy Beach

10/10 Excellent

"The beach view is excellent. The laundry, dishwasher, stove and oven work great. Two refrigerators are very handy. Beach towels, bath towels and linens are excellent. Parking off street is great. The house has many comfortable sitting areas inside and out. Working with the host was excellent. Star gazing is excellent. Neighborhood is very quiet. There is access to several beaches in Puako and there are many turtle sightings. The home needs a deep cleaning and some plumbing leaks addressed. A working ice maker in the refrigerator would be helpful. Some general handyman work is needed to fix the sliding glass door to lanai which needs a new roller to slide well, fix a ceiling fan in the 1st bedroom and the shower head in main house bathroom which has very poor pressure, The screens on the windows and doors were in excellent shape. Bugs and cockroaches are present in Hawaii but I think a deep cleaning would help."

Luxury 4BR Estate with Ocean Views, Pool, Slide & Gourmet Kitchen: Waipio Heaven

10/10 Excellent

"We loved our second stay in this house. The view is one-of-a-kind, and the house is such a beautiful gem. We love the coquis at night, the stars and enjoying the humid air of Hawaii. Honoka’a is a nice town, and the Waipi’o Fruit Shack is right down the road. You’ll probably be visiting Waimea (30 minutes) or across the island to Mauna Lani, etc. (1 ro 1.25 hours), but the longer drive is still worth it for staying in such a lovely house. You’ll have a wonderful experience!"

3 Story House - 10 Beds - steps to the Beach-Shore! **No Hurricane damage/impact

10/10 Excellent

"Our party included an extended family of 13 ranging from grandparents to grandkids. The house was a perfect fit with Hawaii style and comforts. We happen to be there when Hurricane LaLa was approaching and the host and his onsite overseer were proactive in communication. When the power went out that communication and care continued. If you’re going to be stuck due to bad weather, power outages, and closed state beaches, you can’t beat Puako. So many places to access snorkeling and sunsets. The house is a great location to discover Waikola, Kohala, and Kona. All in all, we’re grateful to our hosts for making sure we could enjoy the house safely and comfortably the whole time."
