"This charming hotel sits right in the west village, walking distance to great restaurants, contemporary galleries, art museum and so much more. We walked all over the surrounding streets, happened onto “Tea & Sympathy” a British style tea shop to rest our feet.
The hotel has a cozy lounge where you can sit by a gas fire and relax watching the guests come in and out. "
"Overall loved this place. So much cheaper (like hundreds of dollars per night cheaper!) than any other place I could find on manhattan/brooklyn! I asked for a quieter room when I arrived and the attendant really thought about where best to put me. So kind! My room was at very end of hall. I could hear door slamming a few times but still managed a good nights sleep.
(You can get an even cheaper price if you book a cellar aka basement room but I wouldn’t recommend this unless you’re a very heavy sleeper bc breakfast happens down in cellar level starting at 6:30am and they play music.)
Breakfast was overwhelming in a good way. There were so many options including fresh fruit salad with the best fruits- pineapple, berries etc. they even had salad and veggie burgers- not what I want to eat at 6am but impressive!
Some reviews mentioned the staff asking for room numbers immediately when you arrive and limiting you on hot items to one round (eggs/sausage). Both of these were true but most of the food (like 15 items!) were not on the hot spread and you could have as much as you want.
As far as asking for room numbers, many places do it. I think it’s just more awkward for them bc they have two doors so they have to yell across the place sometimes- maybe get up and ask quietly instead? Or only leave one door unlocked?
Overall, amazing value for price and would stay again or recommend.
I used public transit to get there and it was a bit out of way but not bad. Worth it for the quiet. "
"Great place to stay for a weekend trip in the city! I can definitely imagine the subway and nearby bar noise being a problem for some, but if you’re out enjoying the nightlife and get back in late, it’s not too much of an issue. The staff was super helpful and my room was clean. No complaints!"
