My husband, daughter, and family dog had a great week here. We met up with other family staying in the area and enjoyed hiking and Lake Chatuge despite almost constant rain. The house is charming and the setting is serene. Our host was enthusiastic and easy to contact. It was a great vacation and we hope to book here again in the future.
The house is quaint and comfortable. It’s sertled back in the woods so that it seems secluded while being close to the lake and other attractions. Karin is a kind and attentive host! We'll be back!
The little blue house is situated in the heart of the woods with two creeks to enjoy. We enjoyed the sound of the creeks and the birds. My dogs really exploring the woods and creeks.
I would stay here again in a heart beat!
Second time staying here and was great again. Very secluded and quiet, clean, everything you need. Be aware to be careful if you have a low car, drive is a bit rough. We were in truck so no problem.
This is our second time at this location. Perfect location! Close to town but secluded amongst the trees and forest. I could sit on the front porch all day listening to the sound of the creek while my pups played. We had everything needed to make our stay comfortable. Easy to get to, check-in and out, and questions were answered timely!
The cabin feels remote without actually being remote. The setting is cozy and woodsy with a huge porch. There are so many activities to go and see that we decided to come back this summer. Karin is awesome and easy to work with!
We enjoyed our stay very much at the Little Blue House. The seclusion of the location makes it very easy to relax by the stream and just listen to the sounds of the Forest. Our daughter enjoyed exploring and throwing stones in the stream of course. Great location with easy access to everything you might need, and close proximity to the Towns County Beach on Lake Chatuge, boat rentals and the tourist hamlet of Helen, GA. Communication with Karin was seamless and she was more than accommodating. We plan on returning for future visits!
Karin’s cabin was exactly as advertised. Communication was quick and accurate. Location was within minutes of all we wanted to do. Secluded but near all conveniences. Plenty roomy and kitchen was roomy. Newer appliances were nice & a good vacuum and cleaning supplies helped a lot! Not all hosts are as thoughtful—we appreciate that! Made it easy for us to clean as needed. We very much enjoyed the babbling brook & a welcomed rainstorm on the tin roof was magical! Great nights sleep!!! We will be back.
We were thrilled by "My Little Blue House" - an enchanting property with creeks, rolling hills, stately forests, and even a wild bird nest on the front porch. It far exceeded our hopes with its gorgeous yard, charming decor and adorable childrens' loft. Karin is a kind-hearted soul who cares deeply that her guests, human and canine, have a relaxing and wonderful stay. This cabin is a dogs paradise, and since the property is on a dead-end drive with only one other house out of sight, traffic is very minimal. There are ample places to hike nearby, from lovely waterfalls to the famous Appalachian Trail. The terrible dilemma we faced was that we were torn between our love of exploring and our desire to read on the hammock by the babbling brook, or have lunch on the picnic table just inches from a sparkling stream. We loved watching the sun filter through the trees and hearing the wind chimes lazily play their tunes. It is with a truly heavy heart that we left this piece of heaven, and we eagerly hope to return ASAP!
We have family in Hiawassee and when the entire crew and dogs come up we need more space. So we liked this property and decided to book since it is very close to our family house. Anyway, this property is a very special family owned property that essentially includes the last acres before the national forest begins. So the mountains above are uninhabited and the water is pure without a doubt. The streams that flow through the property are pristine mountain runoff from the national forest. The actual house is an older hand built home that the family built many years ago. I mean hand built down to the wood doors and the medicine cabinet. It's unique and charming. I've stayed in dozens of places here and this is my favorite even though it's smaller than other ones I've stayed at. The wherever you are on the property including the front porch treats you with the relaxing sound of the running brook. The hostess is very accommodating as well and comms are super quick. We loved it and I think our dogs loved it more enjoying their ultimate playground.
The little blue house property was beautiful. Saw some deer. The creek is absolutely lovely. I just wish there was a little bridge or something to make it easier to cross over to the fire pit area. The house was nice and secluded, but close enough to the grocery store and parks. I traveled with my husband and four kids age range 2-9yrs old. The loft area in the little blue house is designed for kids and had some fun play things, but I would not recommend it for kids under 5yrs old because the ladder going up is quite steep and the railings have big gaps in between, so we were a little on edge every time the little ones wanted to climb up. There is plenty of parking, however it is quite the trek to get to the house from the car especially when unloading bags or groceries or kiddos. The property does have trails, but there was no direction or notes of where exactly to go. We started on one trail, but then it seemed to lead to a neighbors house up the mountain so we turned around. But as I said earlier, the house is close to other parks and trails. Helen is about a 20minute drive.
Overall the stay was pleasant. I would recommend it for older kids and adults.
My wife and I, and our 2 Golden Retrievers had a wonderful stay; 10/28 - 11/04. I was pleasantly surprised to see this place available when looking on VRBO only a week before our vacation. It's difficult sometimes to find a rental that allows large dogs, not to mention 2 of them. Communication with Karin was easy through the app. She responded quickly and everything went smoothly and she answered some questions I had. We found the road to the house easily with Google Maps. It's paved at first and then a little rocky. No clearance issues. Pulled into the parking area, and seeing the house set far back in the woods with the little bridge going over the creek was perfect. We loved the porch! Pictures of the inside don't do it justice. Much nicer with a lot of character. Tastefully decorated and included some items for autumn. House was very clean and tidy. You can see the attention to detail. Went to nearby Ingles the next morning to pick up some groceries. It was so convenient with the town being right down the road. Hiawassee is a nice little town with a handful of decent restaurants. We really enjoyed breakfast at Mary's Southern Grill. Michaelee's Italian Life in Blairsville and ShoeBooties Cafe in Murphy NC for the best dinners; both less than a half hour away. Drove around leaf peeping visiting towns along the way. Hiked some trails to waterfalls. The dogs loved the swimming holes at Helton Creek Falls and Hemlock Falls. All in all a great vacation at an amazing house!
This is a hidden gem. Out of the hustle and bustle. Quiet and extremely peaceful. Karin was a wonderful host, always responded when I had a question. This little house was perfect for our vacation. We spent our days on Lake Chatuge and spent our evenings enjoying the sound of the creek and nature. A week stay just wasn't long enough. Our pups enjoyed it just as much as we did!
