"One advantage of having a petty aristocracy is lots of castles around. This 1800s castle and grounds has been converted into a convention center and hotel. The rooms (in t the servants quarters) were clean and comfortable (with a real double bed!) but somewhat dated, the prize is the breakfast in the main house. "

"Our time on Lovo (Drottningholm) was magical. The island is a national park, and we loved walking out our door and onto the island's many trails. And yet, we could also easily drive to sites around Stockholm and Lake Malaren. The house is so lovely. Everything is comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is very well-equipped--we made all of our meals there. There are flowers everywhere--inside and out. And it was SO quiet! The only sounds we heard were birds chirping and the clip-clop of the occasional horse being ridden down the lane. Lastly, the hosts were so lovely and hospitable. We will always remember our time here with fondness and wistfulness. "
