Allamanda Hotel

10/10 Excellent
Wonderful hotel. The owner Vivienne (possibly wrong spelling) was an AMAZING host. She really looked after us and was INCREDIBLY generous with her time! To be honest, if you are staying in Port-au-Prince, this is really important. A larger hotel would have been an error by missing out on this personal service. We can't recommend this hotel enough. The restaurant/bar area was very good, the rooms were very comfortable, and the hotel in general had a very nice feel.

Kinam Hotel

8/10 Good
A really beautiful hotel with glamorous decor and wonderful comfort. The only thing they don't have is 24-hour room service and a mini bar, but do you really need that? I would recommend it to anyone staying in Port-au-Prince. They always helped swiftly, answered thoroughly, were cheerful, and arranged what I needed. I did not eat in the hotel restaurant but it looked like quite a diverse and tantalising menu.

The plane arrives on time ... the bags arrive a wee bit later ... run the gauntlet, find the FREE hotel shuttle service which can be booked online. Take in the sights on the way through town and over the hill to the other side and the coast but most of all remember this is Haiti and the road over the hill to Cormier is a tad on the rough side. Arrival and checkin were as smooth as and in no time we were in our beach wear and enjoying rum punch at the bar! However NOT before simply standing on...

Nice older style hotel. Great courtyard and pool with a relaxing atmosphere for destressing after work. While the front desk staff were always helpful, the restaurant staff can be very inattentive - leaving guests waiting for menus, service...
Located near supermarket with easy access to ATMs. Not many restaurant options nearby, which is a minus. The 'taxi' rates are extortionists - USD 10 to travel 1-1.5 km so you are pretty much stuck at the hotel at the mercy of the inattentive restaurant...

Haiti is very hot and humid in summer. Cap Haitien is a very congested, dirty and seemingly chaotic city. There seems little respite from its turbulence. The Hotel du Roi Henri Christophe offers beautiful tropical gardens, plenty of shade and cool, cool drinks.
Their reception staff speak English are courteous polite and try to help you. The rooms are not new -we had one smaller and another quite spacious. Both were air-conditioned: a haven to escape the heat and humidity.
