This iconic tower turns bright pink at night, serving as a glowing lighthouse for the Cesenatico beaches. Stay at one of the tower’s apartments for dizzying views.

As one of the main skyscrapers in the Romagna Riviera, the Grattacielo Marinella dwarfs the surrounding hotels and vacation homes. The construction of the tower in 1958 signified the growing allure of the Cesenatico beach region. Capture photos of this domineering architectural symbol of prosperity that has made an indelible mark on the beachscape.

Consider the stark contrast between this tall, straight building and the relatively undeveloped surrounding terrain. The tower can be seen from as far as San Marino on a clear day. Admire the simple concrete design that makes the tower stand out.

As you make your way to the adjoining beaches of the Adriatic Coast, use the skyscraper as a landmark to get your bearings. See the building at night, when it is bathed in pink light and creates quite a flamboyant sight beside the purple Ferris wheel behind it.

Gaze up at this architectural behemoth from the grassy patches of its square, the beachside Piazza Andrea Costa. Sit on one of the plaza’s benches and read a book as you watch people go by. Opposite the skyscraper is the majestic Grand Hotel Cesenatico. Sip cocktails from one of the bars in the Cesenatico area and relax on the beach beside the tower.

The architect Eugenio Berardi designed the 387-foot (118-meter) structure in the 1950s. It remains one of Italy’s tallest buildings made from reinforced concrete and contains 35 floors, with about 120 apartments. Rent one of the apartments for your stay and admire the spectacular view of the beachfront.

The Grattacielo Marinella is on the southern side of the Piazza Andrea Costa, just one block inland from the beach in the Cesenatico zone. Take a bus to one of its surrounding stops. Check out some of the nearby attractions, including the Bagno Claudia, the Piazza Cavallotti and the Kinderland amusement center for kids.
