Bear Paw Lodge provides everything you can dream of for your family holiday! But the extra little things that are there that you don’t expect like boxes full of indoor and outdoor games and bicycles of all sizes as well as most household soaps and spices speaks of a very thoughtful and gracious host. It is a real pity we only booked one week!
We had a wonderful stay at Bear Paw Lodge. The house was super comfortable for our party of 10 (6 adults, 4 kids ages 2-7). We saw wildlife every day (even a bear!), loved the hot tub, were amazed by the mountain views, and enjoyed exploring the area. Great base! Bring your bug spray for the evenings!
We gad a great stay. Private and accessible! Awkward third bedroom upstairs had to go through another bedroom to access bathroom or main area. Did have a great time!
We absolutely loved Bear Paw Lodge! It’s secluded and quiet and was the perfect base camp for all of our family adventures. The house had everything we needed and the kids loved playing badminton and soaking in the hot tub. Jim was so helpful with suggestions on things to do. Next time we come to BC we know where we’ll be staying!

Lovely home with stunning mountain backdrop
My family of 9 with spouses and a baby loved staying at Bear Paw. The home has gorgeous mountain views, a lovely lawn with beautiful flowers, and a meadow across the way where we spotted deer. We enjoyed BBQing and hot tubbing in the evenings after taking day trips to Yoho, Kicking Horse Mountain, and Lake Louise area. Inside the home is fabulous too with comfortable beds and a nice kitchen to cook in. I would love to stay again!
We’ve stayed as a family at a lot of AirBnBs and VRBOs and simply put this one takes the crown! Extremely well cared for home with amazing attention to detail for the comfort of the guests. Owners are very responsive. Setting is amazing! BC is a long way from Tennessee, but we’ll definitely try to come back!
After a 2 year pause thanks to Covid, we decided to do a repeat stay at Bear Paw Lodge. Super comfortable stay for 10 adults. Great location with easy access to a lot of activities in and around Golden. The large property was well kept, and set up for whatever outdoor activities we wanted to do. We spent a lot of time on the nice sized deck in the hot summer sun during the day and cool evenings in the beautiful silence of the Rockies. The on site managers were very respectful, polite and accommodating. Another great week at Bear Paw Lodge!

Superb venue for a family holiday
Our family stayed at Bear Paw for a long weekend following our son's wedding. The location was amazing with mountains all around. The lodge was ideal for all three generations of our family (the youngest being 3 years old). It is in immaculate condition and all rooms are well equipped including a singing washing machine which amused the children. The hot tub was also a great success as was the fire pit. Dan, the housekeeper, has a wealth of local knowledge and nothing was too much trouble including finding us another small bike for one of the boys. We have rented many properties in the past but this has to be the best at any time of year and we would highly recommend it.

Excellent retreat!
We had a wonderful time in this extremely lovely home just a few kilometers outside of Golden. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the comforts of home. We saw a herd of deer in the field across the street (15+), and one evening heading home, saw (from the car) two black bear cubs crossing the road about 2 kilometers from the house. Dan was great, and it was unfortunate that are schedules didn't overlap so that we could have gotten to know him better. Would definitely return.

stop looking and book!
My family stayed here for a week and quite simply, we have had a fantastic time. We rafted, hiked, climbed, sky-dived, cycled, build damns and bridges, played cards and laughed until we have cried! After all the things we did, it was fantastic to come "home" into the embrace of the Bear's Paws.
I appreciate that house is (I suspect partly at least) a business/ investment but it has never felt like that in our dealings with owners or indeed with the house. We have felt like friends staying in a friends house while they were away.

Wonderful Views - Lots of summer entertainment - great owners
I've stayed in 15-20 VRBO rentals over the years. This was by far the nicest owners. They have provided a lot of entertainment at the house for their guests. Badminton, Volleyball, Horseshoes, Hot Tub, Lots of board games inside, bikes.... and I know I'm still leaving things out. You are about 1 hour from Lake Louise and 1.5 hours from Radium Hot Springs. Plus you have Mountains all around you! The house was also well furnished!
Beds were very comfortable, and the in built in Humidifier was much appreciated!
Really couldn't say anything negative about the place!

I like to call this "Gods Back Yad"
I've just come back from another holiday at the Bear Paw Lodge, and yet again I'm thrilled with this place.
I went there for skiing back in January and I've just been there for early December. The Kicking Horse ski area was not open till the end of the week, But I was in striking distance of Lake Louise. Its only two hours to get to Revelstoke as well which I found a bonus. The house itself is perfect for a large family get away or a few friends. All the conveniences you need are here from a fully equipped and modern kitchen to a great outdoor hot tub where you can sit and soak and watch the moon above the snow covered mountains.
There is a guy who lives in a separate apartment in the cellar who looks after the house and can give you the lowdown on all the great out doors stuff you can do in the area. I would recommend this place for skiing, skidooing, X-country skiing, ice fishing and walking. I have not been there in the summer yet but the neighbors who are very friendly suggested its a great time to come and enjoy the walks and off road trails.

Stunning property in an idyllic rural setting
Whilst in a remote location, Bear's Paw Lodge is a fabulous detached house surrounded by stunning mountains & beautiful rural vistas. The property is particularly spacious and provided a warm, comfortable & welcoming atmosphere in which our group of 4 were able to relax. The 6 acre site has beautiful landscaped lawns & wooded areas to explore with deer & other wild life visiting us on a regular basis. Dan, the resident caretaker was a really great guy, providing us with friendly advice & assistance with any query we had regarding the house & local places of interest. Bear's Paw Lodge is located in the Blaeberry Valley & is approx. 20 minutes drive from Golden where there are cafes, shops & other attractions. Sadly, the local Mobery pub/restaurant is no longer open & therefore the closest restaurants available were in Golden itself - unless of course you ate at home using the great kitchen facilities available in the Lodge. This is truly a fabulous accommodation, meticulously maintained & cared for - a great place to either relax, or use as a base to visit the many National Parks which are all within an hour's drive of the property.
We really enjoyed our stay at Bear Paw Lodge. It was an easy driving distance to a lot of great attractions and also a great place to just stay in and relax on a rainy day. I would definitely go again!
Perfect base camp to explore the National Parks around
We had a wonderful time at Bear Paw Lodge!
We were 9 in total (5 adults and 4 teens)
We had plenty of place
The scenery was magnificent and spectacular
We had visits of deers every evening
The spa was a bonus at the end of our trecking days
The property was very clean and well maintained
We appreciated the trail recommandation book!
Thank you so much!!!
My family of 4 stayed here for a week and had a great time.
I was geared up to give this place a 4 star review on account of the description not being completely transparent about the house/grounds keeper living in a basement suite attached to the house. Upon finding that out (it is in the description but it's not 100% clear you're sharing a house) I was fairly disappointed, however the people in the basement suite keep out of the way so it wasn't an issue at all. However, if you're looking for a 'whole home to yourself' type rental this isn't technically it.
Now, why I upped my review back to a 5 is because this house is beautiful. The grounds are massive, the house is fully stocked for everything you could want to do (games, sports equipment, bikes, everything!) and the surrounding area is awesome. Tons of hikes (all VERY well documented in a binder at the house) nearby. Nature is at your door step, literally. There was a family of deer living in the yard that we watched every morning.
Overall this place is awesome, the ONLY thing that was an issue was the WiFi router. The internet connection is fine but they need to replace their router, I let the owner know and he's going to get it replaced.
We stayed in summer but this place would be great to hole up in during the winter and its only about 30mins from Kicking Horse!
Stay here, it's great.
Spent a week exploring the Rockies with no some friends. The house was a great spot to come back to after a full day of hiking. We cooked on the open fire, soothed our muscles in the hot tub and sat around the kitchen table sharing meals and playing cards into the night. Remote location made it easy to get off the grid but still close enough to groceries and other amenities. The house had tons of games and toys to keep kids entertained.
Excellent property for the perfect family vacation! Location was great! We got simple and easy directions to find the lodge. Our stay was private, quiet and relaxing. Renting was a breeze. Owners provided great suggestions for things to see and do. Check in and check out were effortless.
There are 8 of us who get together each March for a skiing holiday. This was the perfect place and ideal location for accessing the many ski resorts in the area. Would definitely stay here again.
We very well enjoyed our week at the cabin. Had everything we needed and more. Cozy, comfortable, and well distributed. My 5 brothers and I had a wonderful time in the Golden area.
Exactly what our small group was looking for. Rural location with excellent access to town (Golden), but far enough from town to feel isolated (private!). Great house, loved the yard and hot tub!
A large, well equipped and spotlessly clean lodge situated in the Blaeberry Valley, approximately 15 minute drive from Golden, BC.
Comfortable beds, quality linens and everything works.
The view of the mountains are spectacular, it is called Bear Paw for a reason, one evening we had a Black Bear snacking on berries from the trees bordering the lodge.
Johnson & Meenu the house keepers are friendly and very helpful
The property is a credit to the owners on those involved in cleaning and maintaining the lodge, we would return, the next time for much longer.
Do visit the Wolf Centre just minutes from the lodge and try the Firepit smokehouse in Golden.
Thanks Jim and Sherry a pleasure to have stayed at Bear Paw Lodge
