"Neat historic hotel in the center of town. Rooms are small and so are the beds. Rooms need restoration as there were scuffs and damage on the walls. Public areas are charming and rooms are clean, just worn out and tired."

"We come here alot whether en route going further North/South or whether to stay in Newtonmore for the many varied activities in the area. This is a great hotel always immaculately clean and great staff plus Managers. We cannot rate it highly enough and to anyone considering visiting you will definitely have a wonderful time. We do not even consider anywhere else when in the area."

"A really nice old building. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, particularly the lady and young guy at breakfast (exception was the slightly snippy receptionist who we met on arrival - we never saw her again after that, perhaps a temp?). Our room was a cosy double - it was certainly cosy and quite small, but decor was nice and had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent - the coffee machine was great, but the instructions were only in English and the German people in front of us had no idea how to use it. Some additional languages might be good given the range of nationalities staying there."

"If you're travelling with kids it will be ideal: there is a soft play, activity room, and pool which are all clean and included. I didn't rate the breakfast, not as good a selection as other hotels and not that tasty. The rooms and communal areas are dated and pretty poor, but fairly clean. The highland hotel has a great veranda which I felt was under utilised by not opening the upstairs bar. For the price I paid it was about right, but it really needs renovating."

"The room was very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. Food in the restaurant was delicious! For some reason, many of the places we stayed (including this one) did not provide conditioner. Not a huge deal, but thought I’d note for future guests. It is a cute small town and convenient to hiking destinations. Also note there is not central air and the windows do not open more than a few inches, so on hot days, the room gets very stuffy. Not the fault of the hotel, though!"
