"It was advertised with parking being available. The was no secure parking at the property and the area was clearly unsafe not allowing a vehicle to parked in the street without significant risk."

"Lodge is conveniently close-by to the n1, ample parking, very friendly staff and the small kitchen prepares nice food although not a huge variety but just enough. Breakfast is stunning. Should you require a bigger selection for supper then in about 5km radius there is more than enough restaurants to choose from."

"We stayed in several hotels this trip, none compared to The Spier hotel.
I'm hard to please but this hotel knocked it out of the park.
Truly gorgeous and special."
"Simply the best first night in a foreign country experience we've ever had. Jayne and Le Roux are the perfect people to work in hospitality and the attention to detail was unbelievably outstanding. The whole property is absolutely amazing and it's far more than just a hotel - the experiences offered from the meals to the wine tasting to the runner duck watching (has to be seen to be believed) are fantastic and they set the bar for the rest of our time in South Africa very high indeed."
"Information on website are not accurate. We booked a 3bedroom cottage, but had to pay for a bedroom per person even though my husband & I shared a room we had to pay for 2 rooms. When my mum came to stay we had to pay for a third room- could only access 2 rooms, no keys to one. So we had No access to the patio area. On the website it stated exclusive use of the whole cottage. This is not true. At no point after we booked did staff inform us that you had to book and pay for a room per person separately. Poorly equipped. Only coffee mugs & kettle. No water glasses, no wine glasses - it is a wine estate? Could not give my elderly mum a glass of water to take her medication. No plates, no knives, forks or spoons. No iron & ironingboard. The toaster and Knives & Forkes, desert spoons in our cottages were removed & staff refused to return it.
We had No hot water for 2 days. Towels were threadbare and some had holes in it. No soap were provided..Only received toiletries once for 2 people. Third person received nothing.
One evening we arrived back at 10pm to find the front door standing wide open. There were no forced entry and nothing was missing so the housekeeping staff forgot to close & lock the front door as we had left before housekeeping arrived.
The restaurant staff were fantastic, Very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They really made extra effort to make my mum feel special every morning during our stay. The breakfast was delicious. "
