The Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) concentrates almost exclusively on contemporary art from the Asia-Pacific region. Collections and exhibitions display a wide array of local, national and international artworks. In this section, you will discover post-conceptual sculptures posing questions relating to the very nature of art, as well as video installations dealing with the complex issue of national identity. Also on display is a wide range of drawings, paintings and ceramics. Textiles from Papua New Guinea along with Maori works detailing New Zealand's colonisation also feature. Michael Parekowhai's The Horn of Africa is one of the most arrestingly outstanding sculptures in the collection. The Gallery of Modern Art is located in South Bank in the Cultural Centre. Public transport is your best option as parking is limited and expensive.
