Forth River Cottage - Luxury Bed and Breakfast by the River
“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We will get there someday” AA Milne
Five Star accommodation, with complimentary breakfast, on the banks of the Forth River in North West Tasmania. Ideal for one or two adults, Forth River Cottage is located 10 minute drive from Devonport and 1 hr from Cradle Mountain. Private, peaceful and designed for the most discerning traveller. Leave your worries behind as you take in the flowing river, the sunsets and green pastures. You won’t want to leave! All of your comforts are catered for - luxury bed linen, towels and Tasmanian bathroom products along with the conveniences of a washing machine, free wi-fi and widescreen satellite television. Star gaze as you soak in the claw foot bath on the deck beside the river or sit beside the roaring fire pit overlooking the river, perfect for enjoying a mulled wine or hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows. There is a local convenience store and bottle shop close by for those last minute essentials. Or maybe a walk to the local organic café or hotel for a meal of your choice. In the morning, enjoy our complimentary breakfast. This includes fresh eggs from our chickens, locally produced bacon and a selection of fruits and grains. We will gladly cater for all dietary requirements upon request. Enjoy a brew of quality T2 tea or an espresso from our coffee machine. Forth definitely ranks as one of the most scenic, as well as one of the oldest towns in Tasmania. Nestled on the banks of River Forth, it is only a 13 kilometre drive from the city of Devonport. The population of just 350 people makes it the kind of town where everyone knows everybody and you will be made to feel extremely welcome. Many of the original buildings have been replaced since settlement, but there is still a strong sense of history about this old town. At the hub of this history is the Historic Bridge Hotel, which is one of the town s oldest buildings and still stands in almost its original form. It was first licensed and opened in 1872, and has managed to retain the old world charm and atmosphere of those times of the past. The building is in fact heritage listed and regarded as a national treasure. It is also regarded as one of Tasmania s leading live music venues. Alternatively, enjoy the organic cafe located next door in the original post office building dating back to 1856.

A magical luxury stay in a beautiful area. Hosts have thought of everything to provide a luxurious hideaway by the river- definitely recommend & will visit again in summer
Fantastic stay, best host, best supplies, fantastic location.
Wow, Sally the host is the best host we have ever had, the property is very comfortable and very clean, the supplies are above and we'll beyond our expectations, excellent quality and plentiful, stayed for 6 nights and still had some left over supplies. Would recommend 100 percent and would stay again. Excellent base location for many day trips.
Gorgeous area, beautiful cottage. The host have thought of everything to make your stay as memorable and comfortable as possible. This is the second time I have stayed at Forth River Cottage and will be back.
This place is gorgeous and has so many beautiful extras. The view of the river is so lovely and the location is great too. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would love to come back again
Fantastic property & every convenience & requirement met .
Very cold time while we were there so could not take advantage of outdoor space much - but the accommodation was among the best we have seen in Tasmania.
My wife and I were very happy with our stay. The bath overlooking the river with a fire pit and candles was amazing. The mattress was extremely comfortable. Lovely breakfast options. Sally (owner) amd her dog were lovely. Thoroughly recommend. lovelyThoroughly recome
Beautiful cottage with amazing views. There is a supply of food and bathroom products for your convenience. The hosts have thought of everything to ensure your stay is relaxing and comfortable. The luxurious outdoor bath is so relaxing. Highly recommend a visit.
We were blown away with the cottage and ALL OF THE WONDERFUL AMENITIES. Wonderfully clean, luxurious towels and toiletries, well stocked kitchen and delicious food … fresh sourdough, salad and fruit from their garden, espressos machine, and lots more! Beautiful location on the river. So quiet and peaceful. Nicest VRBO we’ve ever stayed at. We felt very spoiled!!!
A perfect place for any adults looking for a quiet, romantic getaway.
The location by the river without any neighbors or car noise is exceptional. The amenities at the cottage are first class with ample food and breakfast supplies available.
Our hosts, Jodie and Sally made sure that we were well catered for, and were a pleasure to deal with.
Highly Recommended.
Thank you Sallt for sharing your lovely home with us. Clean, bright and very comfortable. The provision of thoughtful supplies is the icing on top. You went out of your way to welcme us with little extras that were much appreciated. Thanks again, and we look forward to returning again!
We had a great stay in this comfortable cottage filled with everything you could possibly need to be self-sufficient. Sally had filled the fridge and pantry with so many provisions and goodies that we could have stayed without bringing any groceries at all. I’ve never seen such high quality and generous provisions provided in any other accommodation ever! On top of that we had a washing machine to get all our washing done (we are travelling in a campervan). We didn’t get to use the outdoor bath, which had an idyllic location overlooking the Forth River, but still awaiting privacy screens. Maybe next time. Would definitely stay again if we’re in the region.
We were seduced by every accept of this property that fulfilled our every expectation. We aimed to base ourselves here for the better part of our 2 week Tassie experience, hoping to take out the necessity of uprooting ourselves from what was on offer. We made the right choice. It didn't matter how far our travels took us because we knew at the end of the day we would be returning home. Every detail of this property was thoughtfully crafted and any request or wish was no trouble. Our host was generous and accessible and given mother nature's desire to turn on a spectacle with some extreme weather conditions, at no time did we feel isolated or threatened. Abundant supplies, comfortable surrounds and picture perfect scenery enticed us to stay and we did. Knowing how busy things were going to be once we would return home, our appreciation of what was on offer at Forth Cottage was only enhanced. Truly a remarkable and unforgettable stay, one that did provide the calm we were looking for.

The best holiday rental we have stayed in. We give it a 6 🌟. Check out at 11am was very generous as we could go for a morning walk, have a leisurely breakfast and then leave. Kitchen so well stocked with local produce. The Forth River running past the front of the property was mesmerizing.
We had an amazing stay from the moment we checked . Everything you needed to have a relaxing time out, but close to everything for us to use as a base to explore. The cottage had a bounty of delectable food and supplies, and even fresh flowers to bring the whole experience to a level we have not experienced before. Consider this a pamper holiday. Would highly recommend
Upon arrival we were blown away. This is the ultimate B&B.
Honeymooners and completely looked after. A bottle of bubbles to congratulate us and such lovely provisions. Local produce, products and some port. We endulged in the out door fire and the bath. Heaven for me.
Thanks to Sally we would love to come back.
