However, I was searching on Expedia for a hotel in Basel, Switzerland, so listing a property in a different country (France), no matter how close to Basel, should have been clearly indicated. I chose this hotel because it seemed like good value for money and only realized it was in France when preparing my maps for the trip weeks later. As a result, I had to pay additional fees for the car rental permit to cross the border, so the value was not as good as it first appeared. This is not the hotel’s fault but rather an issue with the Expedia system. I am still giving the hotel a good review, but I want to warn future travelers about this potential problem."
