Do you have any tips for my flight to Paris?
- First and foremost, pack in your passport, official ID, wallet and medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a tablet filled with your favourite movies are always good options. If you hope to take a short nap, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some deodorant to ensure you touchdown feeling fresh and raring to go.
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes tools, metal cutlery, spray paint and fireworks. Sports equipment like baseball bats, and items that could harm passengers, such as swords and batons, won't be allowed on board either.
- Your main priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Opt for slip-on footwear, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a sweater in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect some passengers on long-distance flights. Lower your risks by drinking water, keeping your feet and legs moving and wearing compression tights or socks.
How to get through airport security fast when flying to Paris?
- Keep your passport and travel documents handy. They're the first things you'll be asked to show at airport security.
- Your belt, jacket, keys and other items in your pocket, like your earphones, will need to go through the X-ray machine. Make the whole process faster by removing them before your turn.
- For just a few minutes, you'll need to unplug from the digital world. Your phone, laptop and any other electronic gadgets will need to be sent through the scanner.
- Want to bring along your favourite perfume? Not a problem. As long as the volume is no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and it's stored in a clear zip-lock bag, you can bring it with you in your carry-on.
- Slip-on shoes are a practical footwear choice as you're less likely to have to remove them when passing through security. Safety boots and other bulky shoes are often subjected to extra screening.
- Pocket knives and other sharp items are prohibited in the cabin. They'll be seized at security, so pack them in your checked suitcase.

Paris Flights
Largely considered one of the grandest, most romantic cities in the world, Paris embodies aesthetic appeal while still maintaining a sweet, simple charm. While booking a trip to this location, most visitors envision the many landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, but once they arrive in the city they find that it is made up of so much more than the recognisable tourist attractions. In order to experience the many alternative wonders of the city, it is best to look for cheap flights to Paris well in advance.
Best time to go to Paris
Peak Season:
Paris seems to constantly be in peak season; however, technically speaking, the peak season falls between June and early September. This city sees a vast increase in tourism due largely to the many events that take place, such as the Bastille Day celebrations and couture fashion shows. However, as many of the locals go on holiday in August, the city quiets down, making it easier to explore some of the otherwise busy Paris attractions.
Shoulder Season:
Late September to October, then again from March to May, the city sees it shoulder season. These months are beautiful, ranging from mild and balmy, to dry and bright. Tourists often take these months to plan their trip to Paris, leaving the city open to explore in relative peace.
Off Season:
Flights are often inexpensive during the off season, November through February, as tourists tend to avoid the city entirely due to the cold temperatures and grey skies. Despite this, it is still a great time to go and take a romantic stroll down the Simone de Beauvoir footbridge, visit one of the many art galleries or simply take in a revue.
Paris Airports and transfer information
Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)
Distance: 25km to northeast Paris
Public transport is probably the best option for getting from the airport. Extensive rail and bus systems make it easy to get to wherever you need to be in Paris. You can also take a taxi; however, taxis can be expensive for the budget travelertraveller, as their rates are dependent upon the current traffic situation. Alternatively, you can rent a car, but this option can also be pricey.
Paris-Orly Airport (ORY)
Distance: 13km south of Paris
Orly is a much smaller and several degrees less frenetic airport than Charles de Gaulle. Hosting more than 30 airlines, Orly handles mostly domestic and European flights.
