Cheap Flights to Merit

Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Merit could be as easy as pie or it could drag on forever. We've put together some handy travel tips that will help you start your next great adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• First of all, pack in your passport, official ID, wallet and medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy book and a phone filled with your favourite movies are some terrific options. If you hope to take a short nap, a quality neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll touchdown feeling fresh as a daisy.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and poisons, are also restricted.

What to wear on a flight:

• Comfort should be your main concern when deciding what to wear on your flight. Loose, breathable clothing is a sensible option, as are flat, slip-on shoes.
• You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and keep your legs and feet moving.

The trick is to be organised before you reach security. That way, you'll be hopping onto that plane to Merit before you know it. Follow these tips and get your trip off to a flying start:

• Airport security personnel first need to verify that you have a valid ID and boarding pass before you're allowed to proceed any further. Keep them close by.
• Time to strip down. Well sort of. Your jacket, belt, keys and other small items, like your earphones, will need to go on a tray through the X-ray machine. Make the whole process easier by removing them before your turn arrives.
• For just a few minutes, you'll need to unplug from technology. Your phone, laptop and any other electronics will need to go through the scanner.
• Travelling with a new hand and nail cream? No problem. As long as the volume is no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and it's stored in a clear zip-close bag, it's fine to bring with you in your carry-on.
• There's a chance you'll be asked to remove your shoes to be X-rayed, so wearing slip-on sneakers is always a good idea.
• Airlines will not allow any sharp items or pocket knives to come on board with you. If you must bring these kinds of items, put them in your checked baggage.
