• It's likely you've heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To lessen your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and keep your feet and legs moving.

The secret is to be prepared before you arrive at airport security. That way, you'll be hopping onto that plane to Holderness before you know it. Follow these tips and get your trip off to a flying start:

• First things first. Your ID and travel documents will need to be presented to security personnel. Keep them someplace accessible to avoid fumbling around for them.
