• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Make a point of walking around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.

The trick is to be organised before you arrive at security. That way, you'll be hopping onto that plane to Dallas before you know it. Follow these helpful tips and get your holiday off to a great start:

• Keep your ID and travel documents easily accessible. They'll be the first things you'll be asked for by security.
