As savvy travellers know, the secret is to be well prepared before you get to security. That way, you'll be hopping onto that plane to Atlantic in a flash. Follow these helpful tips and get your trip off to a fantastic start:

• Airport security personnel first need to make sure that you have a valid ID and matching travel documents before anything else. Have them within easy reach, ready for inspection.
• The X-ray machine comes next. Remove anything on you that is likely to set off the alarm. This includes items like headphones or earphones, as well as bulky coats or jackets. They'll all need to go on the X-ray conveyor belt.
• All electronic gadgets, including your phone and laptop, must also be separately scanned.
