Fingal Surf and Sand is a modern, 2-storey duplex located between bushland and beach. It is an idyllic place to relax and spend quality time with family and friends, so put away the car keys and enjoy a true Australian beach holiday.
Location This property is in a quiet street adjacent to the bushland setting of Barry Park which offers picturesque bush walks, a viewing platform to observe migrating whales (May-November), a large picnic area and crystal clear rock pools on the ledges below, which are accessed by steps.
The duplex is a short 250m stroll to Fingal Beach, a beautiful strip of coastline with a patrolled surf beach and a quiet, sandy cove in the southern corner favoured by families with young children. The beach has a surf school and stand up paddle board hire, and you can walk the entire stretch of sand up to the famous Fingal Spit. The leafy beachfront reserve is home to a great kids playground, the surf club, a restaurant, cafe and a popular, scenic walking or bike path. Bring your running shoes and give Fingal Bay parkrun a try on a Saturday morning, or cycle to the end of the path and onto Shoal Bay (4km), where you can climb Tomaree Mountain for magnificent views of the coastline, or continue into Nelson Bay (6km).
You're also just 400m from the local, well-stocked corner store (complete with delicatessen), cafe, restaurant, bottle shop and takeaway. Nearby, Fingal Bay Tennis club (1km) has courts for hire and the licensed Fingal Bay Sports Club (1.7km) offers lawn bowls.
Living AND Entertainment Space The duplex has an iconic beach vibe and commands spectacular views overlooking the pristine waters of Fingal Beach from the front balcony. The main living area is on the top level with an open plan kitchen, living and dining area that leads out via glass doors and concertina insect screens to the balcony with sun loungers, seating and a gas BBQ.
Inside, the living room has a big screen TV connected to Foxtel, Stan, Netflix, Bluetooth music system and Wifi, and the spacious kitchen has a dishwasher, double door fridge/freezer, oven, gas cooktop, microwave, air fryer and numerous appliances for those keen to cook. This level also has a guest powder room and the master bedroom.
On the ground floor, you will find a second living area with a TV connected to Stan and Netflix, plus a ceiling fan and a rear balcony with an outdoor table and a sun lounge. From this balcony you can access the grassy backyard which has a clothesline and outdoor shower. There are also 3 bedrooms, the main bathroom, and a full laundry which also has a second fridge.

Had a great stay, location is fantastic and house is very clean and large enough for a family.
Only suggestion would be that additions of items such as wifi, dryer and coffee machine would be appropriate for the price point of the property.

The property manager was somewhat unhelpful.
The vacation rental was somewhat dirty.
I was very happy with the location.
I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.
Reviewer Comments:
Upon arrival at the property the floor of the downstairs bathroom was wet. I thought it was from being mopped as the cleaners had not long left. In fact we discovered it was the base of the toilet leaking. We were without a toilet downstairs (to service 6 people) for three days as the whole toilet had to be replaced. This was handled by the real estate as quick as they could. However, other issues which affected our stay were - the vacuum cleaner was broken (handy to pick up sand after a day at the beach). We asked the property manager (twice) to fix this but nothing happened. The ladder on one set of the bunk beds were broken with missing screws, etc and very wobbly. And upon hopping into the bunk beds the children commented that the sheets felt 'gritty'. A timber chair at the island bench in the kitchen was broken. Upon getting extra blankets from the wardrobe to put on the beds, we found they were soiled and dirty. I told all this to the property manager but no one contacted me. The location of the property however was great with wonderful views over Fingal Beach. If all these problems were rectified and cleaners held accountable for their 'cleaning', it would be a great house to holiday in.
