EVOLUTION Cascais-Estoril Hotel

8/10 Good

"This is a nice hotel. Rooms were nice as were the general facilities and the breakfast was very good. There are a few quirks especially the open plan bathroom which won’t be to everyone’s taste. The roof top is nice although the number of sun loungers in full sunshine is a bit limited. Drinks are expensive compared to local bars and restaurants. The location is Estoril rather than Cascais but we knew that before booking. Estoril has more limited facilities and is undergoing a lot of development. However it is very easy to get to Cascais on the train and you would pay a lot more to stay somewhere central in Cascais. I wouldn’t therefore let that put me off. Overall very happy with our stay"

"The hotel is hugely overpriced for what it is. The pool area and restaurant/bar are nice but the rooms are tired with old, rough towels and very minimal AC. Nothing really in the way of luxury amenities which is a shame for the price. I would wait up to 10 mins to be able to get in a lift from the 6th floor to the lobby, with barely any AC in the corridor. While I stayed there it was noisy from an event in the nearby park, the maid service pretty much barged into my room when I said I didn’t need them to come in and the amount of time waiting for the tiny elevators was pretty bad More needs to be offered for this kind of price"

"This is a beautiful, luxurious hotel in a lovely part of Portugal. Easy to get an Uber into Cascais or to the many historical tourist sights in Sintra. There is no shuttle bus and this was not clear before we arrived but we found Ubers reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The only thing I would say is that there is nothing much to do in the evenings. There is a pizzeria and another more classic restaurant within walking distance. You would need to get an Uber into Cascais for anything lively. This wasn't a problem for us as we were happy with the peace and quiet. The atmosphere was extremely relaxed and the pool setting was lovely. I would recommend this hotel for peace and quiet."

"From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Every member of the team was friendly, warm and approachable, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Their excellent service really made our stay special. The restaurant, set right by the sea, was a beautiful place to enjoy a meal be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Although the menu was fairly limited, every dish we tried was absolutely delicious and clearly prepared with great attention to detail. We loved the outdoor grill taste. The pool area was stunning, with plenty of comfortable sunbeds, so there was never any need to rush to reserve one. The waiter service around the pool was another lovely touch and added to the relaxed, luxurious atmosphere. Our room was quite sparsely furnished, but it was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were upgraded to a sea view room which was on the top floor. This was fine for us but some people might find the low beams problematic. What really stood out, though, was how peaceful the hotel was. The tranquillity made it incredibly restful, and we left feeling completely refreshed. This is certainly not a cheap hotel, but in our opinion it was worth every penny as a treat. The exceptional service, beautiful setting and peaceful atmosphere made for a wonderful stay. We would happily return if we have the opportunity."
