"I asked in advance of my visit if there could be gluten free bread for breakfast (I had pre-booked breakfasts). On the Wednesday the person who greeted me (did not see her Thursday) could not have been more accommodating - she was an excellent representative of the hotel. Breakfast both days was very good and I varied what I ate. Because I got lost on my way back one evening I called in at a pub and had an evening meal there. I was going to eat in the hotel but had no chance. The hotel is far larger than it seems from the front. There were ongoing works in the stairwells which is why I didn't give it a 5 star for decor, but there are signs all over explaining this. I really liked the central compass area, the library the restaurant area all the nods to the maritime themes. I had expected to use the pool but was too late or too tired. The hotel is installing an access ramp. A person in a wheelchair at pavement level asked me as I exited to inform reception to 'let her in'. There is currently some sort of access and I think this woman was local, but a ramp will be an improvement. I slept well, enjoyed the room, used free toiletries and made use of the tea/coffee station, hairdryer and tv. I spent the majority of my time in Portsmouth in the Dockyards so the location was perfect. My only grouch was the disappearance of my cheap plastic shoehorn, shich I brought to help me, was of virtually no £value but I spent about 45 minutes turning everything upside down"

"The room we stayed in was very close to the reception.We could hear people talking loudly which disturbed our sleep in more than one occasion.A sound proof door should be there between reception and the ground rooms to minimise or eliminate the sound.We also found dump in the bedroom walls, towards the main window and the bed sheets had holes on it."

"Easy access to the parking lot, The receptionist was very helpful and kind on our arrival and during our stay. The service in the restaurant where we ate was great, we were satisfied with the breakfast"

"The food is ok, service a bit slow, especially when busy. The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, like sleeping on the floor it’s that hard. There were two beds in my room, both the same. "

"Room was clean, but a little smelly after running the tap. Wardrobe was ridiculously small, like an armoir rather than a wardrobe. My dresses didn’t fit. Luckily radiator in bedroom was adjustable as it was very warm. Heaps of tea and coffee but we had to pop our fresh milk onto the windowsill outside as no fridge in room. Staff were excellent Slept well despite what appeared to be someone playing (badly) the last post on a cornet, down the hall."
