We chose to continue to come to Ireland, despite the closures due to the spread of the coronavirus. We arrived early on Friday morning and were pleased that they allowed us an early check in. We were told that there was “some hotel maintenance” going on at this time. When we retreated to the room after 15 hours of travel, we attempted to rest a little bit before sightseeing. The amount of incredibly loud noise occurring at 11am was insane. We figured we would normally be out and about by then so no big deal. However, this morning (Saturday at 7am) we were woken up by sounds that seemed as if someone was coming through our walls. After walking around yesterday and finding that most everything in the city was shut down due to the virus, we were really hoping for a calm and relaxing morning in our “5 star” hotel. We called down to address the issue and the receptionist was very kind, but it still took over an hour to have someone look into the load noises directly over our bed. It was so loud that we played a guessing game to see what maintenance they were doing and we have narrowing it down to cutting tile and remodeling a bathroom. Pointless details, but I am including it just to reiterate how incredibly loud it was on a Saturday morning at 7am. At this point, we are debating if we even want to stay here tonight for our last night in Dublin. This hotel would live up to its current rating without the maintenance, but it should have been disclosed upon booking the hotel.
