"We attended a special event nearby (Portland Winter lights festival) and wanted to walk; we felt safe as long as we were near people at the event. Glad to see Portland starting to recover from its recent homeless chaos and random violence! Our only complaint with the hotel was about the thoughtless, noisy people in the room directly above us."

"Housekeeping only came every other day to replace towels. Beds not made or room cleaned Heard loud noise came from room above…reported to staff who was very understanding but they couldn’t help stop it! Overnight parking very expensive for area. "

The on-site restaurant (Bistro Alder) serves very good food — a definite highlight of the stay. The lobby is small and simple, yet cozy and personal. This hotel doesn’t feel like a large chain hotel—that’s part of its appeal. It stands on its own, with its own character and strengths. At the end of the day, people want a clean, quiet hotel where they can truly rest, along with helpful staff—and this hotel absolutely delivered on both and much more. "
