Wonderful property!

We had a great time at this house and property on our family vacation. There was plenty of room for the 14 of us and it was stocked well with kitchen items, towels, etc…The location was beautiful!

So peaceful!

We absolutely loved our stay here. I had my wedding on June 8, 2024, and it was picture-perfect. During our stay, the new moon allowed us to see the Milky Way just by looking up! The location, nestled between Telluride and Durango, was ideal, offering plenty of opportunities for travel and sightseeing. The family enjoyed the trail on the property. The solar power was unique and added a bit of a challenge to getting ready for the wedding, but we were prepared for that. The WiFi was a bit slow, as expected. Despite a small inconvenience of workers on the nearby house during the wedding evening, the overall ambiance of the location was magical and captivating. We would absolutely stay again! Sara was so wonderful and responsive.

White Christmas 2024

We came from Texas for a white Christmas, and that is what we got. The tree was beautiful for all of the gifts we brought. We also made Christmas dinner on Christmas day and with what I brought from home and what they had there in the kitchen we made it work. Water pressure was pretty good. With the amount of people we had, we spread our showers out, so everyone had hot water. The beds were comfortable for us. Thats always important for me and my husband with our age. none of our 20yr old to 30yr old kids complained about the beds either. It seemed that all the chests throughout the house had extra pillows and blankets. The property was beautiful, and we went and bought some snow disks for the littles to use and found a couple of hills for them to slide down (a million times). We won't need them in Texas, so we left them for the next guests. Even us big kids did it. We did have an issue keeping the house a constant temp (but that was probably user error). When it got to warm, we just cracked the window or door open a little. There was a weird fly issue, but they didn't bother us. Durango was close enough for us to drive to a couple times and Mountain Village was a beautiful drive about 45 min. We had a couple of issues while we were there, and the host was responsive and generous about the inconvenience. We would stay again with how many we have; it is hard to find a place where everyone gets their own room.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this cabin, and it fit the primary needs of our large group (15 people). The location was beautiful with hiking and walking trails/paths right out the front door. The decks/patios were lovely, the bedrooms were large enough, there were plenty of towels and linens, and the kitchen had all the basic necessities. There was also a washing machine and dryer available to use. The downsides were that there was no air conditioning. Of course, the property does not list A/C as available, and silly me being from the Midwest thought that most places would have A/C, especially places where it gets into the 90s during the summer. Though the inside of the house got warm, it was manageable (but some in our group would have liked it cooler). However, at night upstairs, it was downright hot and uncomfortable, even with the fans provided.The swimming hole was nearby, but not easy to get to, especially not if you have younger kids. The cleanliness inside could have been improved; the dishwasher and washing machine need a thorough clean (though both seemed to work fine, they looked dirty), and the carpets had a lot of other people's hair in them (we had a baby who crawls/stands in our group, and her feet were always getting hair in them, from the moment we arrived, so we knew it wasn't from us). The bathrooms were impeccable, though. We also loved having the large dining table for meals and games.

Best place!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here. The location was perfect. We found so much to do on the property and hiking trails all around. Would definitely come back to stay. The seclusion was just what we needed to enjoy our family and disconnect.

Absolute beautiful home. Owner was very responsive and extremely helpful.

The home owner was great. Kind and friendly and very informative on how to work off grid home. The owner doubled checked everything at check in to ensure we had everything we needed. The home itself is gorgeous, plenty of space for very large families or groups. The view from the home are breathtaking. I would say if you come in winter try and have a 4 wheel drive to get up driveway. The home has access control gates for entry and exit which is a big plus for us in security.

Great For A Large Group

I booked this location for a group of 15 adults riding motorcycles in the Rico area. The house was perfect for us. Plenty of beds & sofa-beds for the entire group. The house was large enough for individuals to have plenty of personal space if needed. Plenty of bathrooms & showers for all. The large kitchen and family room were great for spending the evening together after a day of riding. The house was clean, plenty of bedding, dishes and utensils. Hopefully we will be able to book it again next year.

Gorgeous stay at the foothills of the San Juan mountains

Our stay was wonderful-there is something for all ages, and great locations close by. We held our micro wedding here and Sara was very helpful and accommodating.

Our stay was excellent. The home fit our large family very well. We had everything we needed. The kitchen was stocked very well. Our host Sara was an absolute angel and William, the groundskeeper was very helpful when needed. Please note that the home is not ADA compliant and you have to go up two flights of stairs to get to the main floor. This was the only problem we encountered! Otherwise, excellent stay!!

The cabin could use a little upkeep. There were also many flies on the ground as well as many flying around. The first two nights were very cold since we could not get the heater to turn on. This caused us to have very little hot water. We spent most of our stay traveling from town to town.

Four-generation family celebration of 90th birthday!

We made so many joyful family memories in this beautiful mountain setting! We were 17 adults and six very young children, and the house accommodated the whole group in charming, rustic comfort. We enjoyed four full days of hiking and fishing on the extended property; lounging and chatting on the deck; gathering for games, singing and meals; finding quiet spaces to read or nap. Sara was a wonderful host who even arranged for group photos at a perfect spot on the property. All in all, a delightful stay!

A Dream

This property is absolutely perfect for a getaway with your family. We had a wedding on the property and the background scenery was absolutely beautiful! Even though it was late April and we weren’t sure on weather conditions the snow wasn’t a problem at all. It wasn’t too terribly cold and Mark made sure we had plenty of wood for the fireplace. Mark was great about providing any and everything we needed. I would rebook this house in a heart beat.

Just another day in paradise!

The home was gorgeous and allowed for much privacy when wanted and it was clearly a good space for our large group to come together. All the amenities of home were provided with fresh air, peace & quiet and a great location for us to reach our favorite play areas: Phil's World, gym in Cortez, Telluride for more Mountain Biking, Boggy Draw for hiking & biking and McFee's reservoir for paddling. Mark was as good a communicator as they come, always responding very quickly by phone, text or email. Rent with confidence!

Annual Ski Trip with Family

Outstanding time in this huge house. Plenty of seats at the table and kitchen bar to feed all of us but and still be in the same room. Plenty of blankets, pillows, sheets and towels for an Army. 45 min drive to Ski Telluride(Mountain Village). Based on the drive during winter you must get 4 wheel drive and studded tires if they have them. Rent Jeeps from DiffJeeps in Montrose or Telluride, great way to go. DO NOT GO IN 2 WHEEL VEHICLES, too much snow, too much ice for the drive. Mark was always quick to communicate and responsive, appreciate it!

Beautiful house and had all the amenities needed. It was big enough for our family of 12.

We really enjoyed the property. The kids had lots of fun sledding down the hills in the property. Plenty of snow. Chose to stay home one whole day so the kids could have a blast.

Perfect location for a small wedding!

This property is AMAZING! I can't recommend it enough. We wanted to have a small wedding and have a place for all of our friends and family to stay. The cabin fit more than enough people and it was incredibly cozy. Mark is a fantastic host and provided more than we could have asked for. He was so accommodating, attentive, and kind. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. The cabin itself is absolutely gorgeous and well taken care of. The kitchen is well stocked and all the appliances work well. Even with 30 people and the cabin being solar-powered, there were never any issues with the electricity or hot water. We couldn't have asked for a better host or a better location for the weekend!
