Fabulous place to stay and lay your head or just stay in cabin and reLAX. Close to everything from g
close to everything from great shopping, restaurants golfing tennis, swimming hiking, waterfalls, even a theatre for all the new shows playing. PERFECTION.
Our family of 9 booked for our Christmas Trip. This was definitely an oasis away! We had enough space for everyone to sleep comfortably. We didn’t have service due to our phone carrier but the wifi was very strong so we could communicate when needed. The fridge was a little cluttered with a numerous amount of condiments and slightly dirty but it was nothing to just wipe it out. We came prepared with all of those items but for someone who didn’t, it was a nice touch. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would love to return in the warmer months to enjoy other amenities the property!
It was not fancy but great set up for a group. Bathrooms were new and nice. Has a big deck with view of mountains. We liked the location close to Highlands and Dillard.
Loved the size and style of the home for my family. It has charming decorating and spacious floor plan. The location is convenient to many mountain activities from the waterfall in Sky Valley, amenities in Sky Valley, waterfalls and other activities in Highlands, Dillard, and ziplining & rafting in Chatooga River area. The owner was very responsive and helpful from the home to nearby activities. An ideal mountain vacation setting for a family!
The location of this property is just wonderful! Accessible to everything and we loved and enjoyed our stay! The house is beautiful, cozy and easily accessed. Paved road and driveway is a plus and oh, the view took our breaths away! Would definitely come back. Thank you!
We had a wonderful stay at Burck's place. We had a 90th birthday so we had a wide range of ages staying. Everyone had a great time even without good internet. Who needs it with views like this home has!
Perfect house for our extended family of nine. Five bedrooms and three bathrooms made getting ready in the morning very manageable. The open floor plan allowed us to be together, but not on top of one another. Our grandchildren enjoyed nearby snow tubing and ropes course. We enjoyed mountain views and relaxing on the back deck.
Love Sky Valley and the area. The house was spacious and accommodating. It was nice to have 4 of the bedrooms on the main level. The owner was great to work with. He responded quickly to my questions prior arrival. It was nice that he came by to check on us and he picked up the garbage about every couple of days. Will likely rent again.
We had a lot of fun sharing time with our children and grandchildren this past weekend. It is difficult to find a rental that is big enough to accomodate us all, but this was perfect! The house was very clean and comfortable. The owner was great! He checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. Despite less than perfect weather, we enjoyed hiking, fire in the fireplace, games and good food!
As a family, we decided to spend Christmas up in the mountains which was something we had never done before. I’m so glad we decided to embrace the adventure. Beyond Burck being an outstanding host and going above and beyond to make sure we had an experience to remember, the view of the mountains, a crackling fireplace, and family gathered around on the spacious back porch was like a Bob Ross painting. We are definitely looking forward to our next trip there! Highly recommend it!

Very pleasant
We love Sky Valley. Our group stayed in this house for our annual MAN TRIP. Everything as described. Well appointed. Could use some tree removal/trimming to enhance the view from the fantastic back deck. The driveway is pretty steep, but any vehicle can handle it when done with care. We did have some difficulty getting the key out of the keybox and the manager was slow to re, but it worked out.
This place is wonderful. It has everything you need to have a enjoyable weekend with the Family or Friends. The house was very clean, fully furnished kitchen which was a plus too me as I live to cook and cooked 3 meals during this stay and had everything I needed . The front porch was used a lot as we live being outside. I think someone sat on the couch maybe twice. We were outside or down at the pool. Thanks for sharing your house with us .

Rocky start
The home wasn’t clean and we couldn’t get in. We are on top of a mountain with zero reception to call the property manager because we were locked out. The ceiling leaked every time the kids showered upstairs and the house wasn’t clean. We had to call and pack up so the cleaners could come after we checked in. They took pillow cases from our pillows and replaced them with starched rough white ones. It was not an over all great experience with all the issues we faced.

🤬Warning: Nightmare Ahead😱
We were looking forward to a fun filled trip in Sky Valley. We’d stayed in Sky Valley previously and just loved the views, waterfalls and local dining establishments. I was unable to find the cabin available that we wanted and opted for this place. The views appeared to be good and the place, even though a bit creepy with some of the family pictures, looked clean. Burck, the owner, called and left a rambling voice mail with lock box information. He seemed like a nice enough guy. It’s a 2.5 hour drive from our home and with traffic, nearly doubled it. We get in and immediately noticed the grandma’s old musty house smell presence. The furniture, old pictures, beds even the food in the pantry looks like somebody died and they closed up the house and VRBO’ed it. We wanted to watch the 3 rd game of the World Series and there is no cable, no instructions how to get programming. So NO World Series on tv. We had to watch in our laptop. We start getting our 4 kids ready for bed and my wife developed a rash on the back of her neck and arms. Our kids started complaining of itchiness and coughing and blowing their noses. Our kids went to staying outside to get fresh air and get relief from their “allergy” symptoms. I had already called Burck three times to get information on how to work the TV, he was just as clueless as I was. He then said , he would do us a favor, “ I live in Franklin but I’ll get in my truck and drive 30 minutes to see if I can help you”. Like we weren’t paying for the place and he was just letting us borrow it for the weekend. Burck got over to the house and by that time wife and kids were packing up. The “allergy” symptoms were not something we were going to deal with. Seeing my girls running around outside as opposed to being in the house because they “felt better” any parent would’ve done what I did. We packed up and left after being there 2 hours. I told Burck I expected a full refund. I explained that he had airborne contaminants and that’s why he has Kleenex boxes in every room. The airborne contaminants cause severe allergy attacks. Burck, considered these allergies normal, “it’s the mountains”. The house has severely buckled hardwood floors which points to a water problem and the mustiness in the air points to scachybachryn.
Save a nightmare. Go ANYWHERE else IN SKY VALLEY. If it’s all booked up, stay at Days Inn. You might have to deal with hookers, drugs and police but at least you’ll get better customer service.
We had a great stay! Booked for a large group attending a wedding and everything was self explanatory and easy. Location was easy to find and wifi worked great for those of us who needed to work
Our family had a wonderful long weekend at this property. The house is cozy and was well-equipped with ample seating and all the kitchen items we needed to cook our meals. The porch has a stunning mountain view and we all loved sitting out there. The cabin is conveniently located near lots of hiking trails and just a short drive to Highlands, NC. We also went to Twelve Spies Winery nearby, which was lovely. Burke was a wonderful host and we would definitely stay at this property again in the future!
Everything was as described and the house was amazingly stocked. Highly recommend. The property owner Burck communicated and responded quickly. All around 5 star experience.

Mixed Feelings
Pros - location, layout of house (great for multigenerational family), huge porch
Cons - porch faces a somewhat noisy roadway, bed in room behind pantry needs to be replaced immediately before it falls down, upstairs room with window unit did not cool easily (although it was better after my husband cleaned the filthy filter)
The house was perfect for us. It was very clean, well stocked kitchen and a great location. We had four generations there and it the house’s layout was perfect.
