"Property and location are great. Phil, the owner, is fantastic. Our Fourth year at this property, and Phil has always kept it up to date with improvements and updates each year."
"Very clean and well stocked property. We enjoyed the seclusion along with a nice fire in the fire pit by the sound. We had horses visit most mornings on and around the cottage. Would definitely stay again."

"LOVED this vacation, what an amazing place! Literally wild horses walking around the house and surrounding areas. Spent two days on the beach, horses were just hanging out with us, no big deal!! House was great, hottub was great, owner/host was even better! He sent us all the applicable addresses for the air station, property etc, and even stopped to make sure we were all set once we got settled in. Could not say enough good things about this place! Can’t wait to go back!!"

"We had an amazing stay at this OBX 4x4 beach property! The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. One of the best parts was the peaceful location in the four wheel drive area of Corolla. It truly felt like getting away from the crowds while still being close enough to enjoy everything the Outer Banks has to offer. The wild horses wandering through the area were unforgettable and made the experience feel unique and special. We also loved being able to drive directly onto the beach instead of hauling all of our gear back and forth. The views, quiet atmosphere, and outdoor spaces made it easy to unwind every day.The hosts clearly put a lot of care into the property, and communication was excellent from start to finish. If you are looking for a true OBX adventure with privacy, nature, and a relaxing beach vibe, this is the perfect place to stay. We would absolutely come back again!"
"We enjoyed our stay and seeing all of the horses! It was perfect for our long weekend trip! My only suggestion is to provide more information on the listing. It did say 4x4 but not that you would be driving on the beach for several miles and that there are no restaurants, gas or stores after corolla. A big thank you to Brad for providing dinner for weary travelers! I should have done more research! It was so worth it!"
Semi-Oceanfront, Wild Horses, Pets Welcome, Private Pool, 4x2064, Happy Hours
4/10 Poor
"Stayed at this property May 2026. Location was one row back from 4x4 beach. Make sure you follow the high/low tide. Traveling around can be difficult if tide is high. Saw many wild horses and came right up to the house which was amazing. Make sure to get your beach parking pass, so worth it!! Pool wasn't used because the weather was in low 70. Hot tub was nice but not all jets worked. This house has several decks which were very nice. The chairs are extremely comfortable and you can see the ocean. This property needs an extreme deep clean. Never went barefoot in the home because all area rugs are disgusting. The bedding was dirty. The kitchen had small ants everywhere and dead bugs through out the house. Dog feces was in one of the bedrooms. There is no extra cleaning supplies such as dish soap, sponge etc. We went to use the gas grill and it was empty. I usually don't complain but if I was the homeowner the cleaning/property maintenance company should be terminated. I did reach out and express my disappointment and they said they will pass on my complaints. OBX is a beautiful vacation spot just do your research before picking this property."

"We had an amazing experience at Under the Oaks. The house was clean and comfortable. We used the hot tub nightly and enjoyed making s’mores by the fire pit. The location was AMAZING! We saw wild horses, a seal, a baby turtle and 2 playful otters during our stay. We definitely recommend the adventure that is 4x4ing it along the beach! "
