"The hotel entrance, bar and restaurant areas are very modern and clean. Our room was obviously freshly cleaned as the bathroom floor was still wet. The decor is tired and could do with a bit of modernisation especially in the bathroom and a replacement shower is required, it was hard to switch on. The food in the restaurant was pretty average we had nice starters but the mains, burger and pizza, were unfortunately disappointing. Overall we enjoyed our stay but will not be returning."

"I managed to swap my Double room for a twin room, as my partner couldn’t attend a family party so my son came with me. It was an excellent room, actually it was 2 large rooms both with a double bed, large TV etc but you enter from the same main front door. It’s a very nice and busy hotel, clearly the place to be seen, to eat, and to drink as the bar and restaurant were very busy. Plenty of parking space as well."

"We were given a spa voucher as a present and decided to treat ourselves and book in for the night. We were not disappointed. This hotel is worth its 5 star rating and more. The spa was lovely, especially the view over the golf course and out to the Ailsa Craig. The hotel was quite quiet due to the time of year so we were lucky to be upgraded to a suite. (That never happens to me!) The room was spotless and the staff were very attentive without being too overbearing. We started off saying that this would be a one off but are already making arrangements to return for longer. "

"We arrived as the concierge was taking a phone call from another customer complaining and requesting a refund...not the best start. Our stay coincided with a friends birthday party in the function suite, she was told there was a special rate for those that booked direct with the hotel. Three phonecalls later and staff had no idea about it, so we booked on hotels.com instead as the rates going direct were significantly higher. We stayed in room 18, which has seen better days, cracks in the tiles and bath panel. In comparison to the lochside, this hotel is severely lacking and the bed and pillows fairly uncomfortable. That said, the room was clean. The biggest issue i had that night was with a member of barstaff, I used the hotel bar rather than the function suite as there was only one member of staff serving and i wanted cocktails. I gave my order to the staff member and they didnt appear to be very pleased, but made them, I then asked for a pina colada and they looked furious, i asked to pay and come back for it, they huffed and handed me the card reader. I can only guess they'd just cleaned the machine, but I know that i did not deserve that level of attitude. Later i returned to the bar for more cocktails, that same member of staff, left and then returned, when we asked if they were serving they replied "no, i told you that before i left" just very unprofessional. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone"

"Hotel is very nice from the outside but tired and in need of a refurb, room 212 the bath water wasn’t hot and the bathroom floods when you have a shower. Staff are pleasant enough. "
