Good location, very reasonably priced, although an older property, everything we needed was there
It was my son Xavier’s first time at Phillip Island to see the penguins, we loved that the bach was close to the ocean, park, cafes and restaurants.

Would be good to have mattress protectors on all beds. If pillows were provided that would help to with packing less. A washing up rack would be helpful too.
Was a very easy family friendly home and very pet friendly too. Good to have a washing machine and place to hang out the clothes if we come for a longest day great big yard for the dog.
The house was nice and cosy and a great location, however the mattresses were quiet poor and should be upgraded and the outside was abit of a mess and their was a dead cat right near the verandah
The property was an easy walk to a dog friendly beach which we really enjoyed.
Something really needs to be done about the shower, the amount of water coming out is dismal and one would expect a lot better.
We loved the property and how close it was to the beach. Mattresses needed to be better and things like dish washing liquid and hand wash should be replaced with not just water. Coffee machine only had one pod, those things make a big difference in the best of ways.. thank you for a great stay otherwise .
My overall impression of this property is that it is unsafe, unsanitary, and not as advertised. On arrival, I found multiple serious issues including:•No compliant smoke alarms•Exposed and unsafe mains electrical cabling•Burnt powerpoints and faulty electrical cords•Black mould and painted-over water damage•Broken beds and filthy, outdated mattresses•Rusty sinks and unhygienic kitchen and bathroom facilities•Uneven and unstable flooring•Rubbish left in the toilet and throughout the houseThe property was not safe or suitable for occupation, and I vacated immediately after arrival. I have lodged a refund request with Stayz.I would not recommend this property in its current state.
We weren't able to use the hot water for most of our stay at the property, so we couldn't shower at the house, which was frustrating. House has a very musty smell and many surfaces weren't wiped down and we're grubby when we arrived. Very no frills- no coffee, tea, paper towel, etc.
Bath is unusable and has rust all near the plug. Most of the cleaning products were empty or filled with water. Kitchen and bathroom had significant water hammering in the taps.
Host was initially responsive but then dist reply to resolve water issue.
Some pros:
Easy check in
Rooms were large
yard was fenced
kitchen has all you'd need
House was well located near the beach
house was near shops
Woodburning fireplace (no wood provided)
My Review:
I stayed with my husband and our 9 year old daughter at Seascape Escape in Cowes, Phillip Island, Melbourne VIC on April 13-14, 2025, and it was a very disappointing experience. The house looked completely different from the photos in the listing. When we arrived, the outdoor area was dirty with leaves and dust covering the table and BBQ. The house itself was very old, poorly maintained, and smelled musty and old.
The toilet door was difficult to open and close — it almost fell off and nearly hit me, which was extremely dangerous, especially since we were staying with a child. The cupboard doors were about to break, the bed was very old with springs sticking out, and the back door flyscreen couldn’t close properly. The water tap made loud noises when turned on, and the bathroom had rust stains around the bathtub and sink, making it look unhygienic and very unpleasant. We were too afraid to even use the shower.
To make it worse, no basic bedding was provided. I had to bring my own pillow, bed sheet, pillowcase, and blanket for my family. For a rental property, this was highly inconvenient and unacceptable.
I honestly don’t understand how Seascape Escape could still be listed for rent in such a poor and unsafe condition, especially in Melbourne VIC. I have some photos to prove.

The property was cosy and clean except on the first night, lifted a tray in the fridge and to was covered in ants. No insect spray so a quick visit to the shops and problem gone. Lots of ants but they didn’t come back. Bed was rock hard but couch and dining chairs were very comfortable. We had to buy wood for the fire and left the remainder there for the next guest. The shower is crazy and gets water everywhere. The shower curtain is too short so a lot of water goes on the floor soaking the bath mat. The shower was hot though and did the job. Suggest a new shower head and linger curtain. The front door does not stay closed without locking it which is pretty annoying if some of the party just wanted to go for a walk. Two new heaters were there which was good but a significant lack of power points made them difficult to use. Only on power point in each bedroom , so if you used the heater you couldn’t use the supplied lamp or charge your phone. Appreciate the two extension leads but a couple of power boards would have need excellent. Comfortable, cosy stay for our family of four and dog who loved the back yard and closeness to the beach for walks and a swim.
This little house was perfect for a little family great location would definitely stay again
This rental property is located in a quiet Street very close to shops and the beach cute little 2 bedroom home we enjoyed our stay the only negative thing I would say is the bathroom
Property is in a nice location close to town. Being pet friendly is a huge bonus. The kitchen is well stocked and the bbq is great. The open fire would make it very cozy in the colder months.
Great location from the beach, super comfy couch to lounge in at the end of a hard day lazing on the beach. Large backyard for dogs to run and play. Fireplace is perfect for winter getaways. Nice big bbq to seer up a feast.

Property was old and a little tired but it was so clean and had everything we needed so suited our families needs perfectly. Great location
Pros: Clean, spacious, with ample backyard and privacy. The fireplace was charming and it had an air conditioner and brand new bbq. Cons: no desk for those of you who may want to bring some work along - you’ll need to use the kitchen table; the beach is a little too far for small children to walk to and from, but great for older (10+) age children. We had a lovely 4 night stay and would highly recommend this property for small families, couples, and/or those with a pet. (We had a small King Charles cavalier who had a ball in the beautifully grassed backyard)
My husband, myself and my mum had a wonderful few days and very much enjoyed the stay. The property was clean and cosy, we had everything we needed. The Northern beach was just a short walk away, the neighbourhood was lovely and shops were just 2 minutes by car, however we walked there too - took about 20 minutes one way.
