"I was always taught not to kick a dog when it’s down, however I feel compelled to write a comprehensive review of the failings of this Château. Whatever the history of Château de la Bainerie it matters not. Those currently in charge of looking after and managing this Château clearly do not have the skills, motivation or mindset to do a good job."

"The host was wonderful, really helpful, booking a restaurant for us, and checking that we had what we needed. The kitchen is fine but is a galley and cramped for more than two people at a time. Facilities there are OK and all the basics are there. House was clean and well equipped and the beds were comfortable "

"We had a very pleasant stay at Chambres d'Hotes les Clefs du bonheur. The owners were friendly and helpful. Room very nice and spacious and everything that was in the description was there. Very quiet and close to the center. We recommend it"

"Staff very helpful in ordering Pizza for us as restaurant not open Sundays. The only drawback was having to wait an hour for reception to open at 6.30pm"

"Lovely place to stay, comfortable and good service newly refurbished just a few things not quite right yet. No mirror or dressing table in the room no chair or table or anything for clothes. Food expensive as Michelin but poor descriptions for English only speakers. No less expensive options and nowhere local so for a longer stay?? No lift but they do carry your bags for you. Outer areas still to be finished."

"Probably the best holiday rental we’ve ever stayed in. A real home from home. Hot tub/jacuzzi perfect, swimming pool perfect. Very private and very comfortable. We made full use of the outside kitchen. A very well equipped property. Our hosts were wonderful, we had problems with our car on the drive to the accommodation and they were fantastic helping us communicate with the garage. Nothing was too much trouble. Very informative with suggestions of places to visit and restaurants to try. Thank you for making our holiday very special. "

"Really peaceful, lovely rooms and a warm welcome. Really good continental breakfast. There was even a kettle and decent teabags! This hotel is excellent value for money. Immaculately clean, lovely bathrooms. The rooms were spacious and comfortable - modern rooms but in keeping with the traditional rustic building. The hotel has an honesty bar where you can get a beer (but not much else) although there's no drinks or facilities to make bake a drink in the rooms. The village itself is very quiet - nothing to do apart from go for a walk. The next village along, Brulon, had a few more restaurants/cafes. We ate in the restaurant next to the hotel - worth booking ahead as it didn't look like they did walk-ins. The hotel booked us a table the day before we arrived. We would definitely stay here again and wish we'd stayed more than one night - if you're looking for a comfortable, peaceful overnight stopover, this hotel is perfect."
