"Location, wow - beautiful vistas, lovely gardens, lovely cottage. Inside is also very nice indeed, well appointed and comfortable - only negative there was that there was a bit of a paraffin smell near the boiler, not sure if there had been a spillage. Otherwise great and extremely convenient for the RHS show. We cooked, we BBQd, we ate on the deck, we watch the wildlife. Alpaca farm is a short walk and was a lovely little trip for brekkie and animal watching. We will be back! Thanks Alison :)"

"Lou’s view was a very comfortable cottage which suited our needs whilst we were there for a couple of days. The only thing that I feel that needs to be considered to be updated is the shower in the grey bathroom as the hot/cold water knob didn’t turn so we felt the water was tepid. The hot water boost wasn’t that effective either even when we turned it in early so 2 out of the 4 of us had cold showers. "I didn’t exactly know what I was letting myself in for when I booked into The Shepherd’s Lodge but it was actually a pleasant experience and it provided exactly what I was looking for i.e. a comfortable place to lay my head at night and have a cup of tea and few quiet hours after a long day at a Folk Music Festival. The only problems I encountered were due to the weather and therefore beyond anyone’s control. "

"The hotel was OK but seemed a little tired and had no air con in the bedrooms and as it was a hot day sleep proved difficult. A fan was provided which helped a little. We didn't have time to use the leisure facilities so cant comment. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We had a little walk around the area, not much around a supermarket and couple of places to eat if you didn't want to eat in the hotel, probably wouldn't have done this had it not been light as don't know the area but...
