Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Colos?
The best area to stay in Colos is right in the heart of the village, particularly around the main square, Praça da República.

This central area is the focal point of Colos, where you'll find the parish church, a few local cafes, and small shops. The streets here are narrow and traditional, offering a glimpse into local life. It's a compact area, making it easy to walk everywhere within the village itself.

For couples looking for a relaxed and authentic Portuguese experience, staying in the village centre is ideal. You'll be within easy reach of local eateries and can enjoy the quiet pace of life, perhaps with a morning coffee at a pavement cafe.
When is the best time to go to Colos?
The best time to visit Colos is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these months, the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20°C to 28°C, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Alentejo region. The countryside is particularly lush in spring, with wildflowers in bloom, superb for those who enjoy hiking or cycling. Early autumn offers similar agreeable temperatures, and it's also grape harvest season, which can be an interesting experience for those interested in local wines.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find these seasons particularly appealing. You can enjoy the tranquility of the rural landscape, explore local vineyards, or simply unwind by a pool without the intense heat of summer or the chill of winter.
