Independent in Cologne

"My German friend and I stayed here one night to see the band The Notwist. The hotel is centrally located, near the cathedral and museum and shops on the waterfront. The Junior suite was spacious, had stunning views, and was quiet, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff is super nice and helpful. They had the adapter for my American electronics. The breakfast was a smorgasbord of everything you could possibly want (breads, pastries, cheeses, meats, fresh fruits, juices). The waiters made our coffee beverages and brought them to our table. It was the perfect stay for our one night in Cologne. "

"Very close to the train station in a safe area. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Really great place to stay. Had to catch an early train so we didn’t stay for breakfast."

"Tried to check in at 12.30pm and were told we couldn't access our rooms until 3pm. Which is super frustrating and there wasn't even any sense of empathy or apology for it. Front desk staff were very very slow at the check in process. Front desk staff on other occasions had no urgency despite there being a queue. Why don't they act more quickly, they are on "go slow" mode? Bar staff were very nice and much more efficient. Room was nice, although no iron and ironing board. For s 4 star hotel the water should be refreshed daily. Price of the mini market on ground floor was disgraceful - €4+ for a small bottle of water. Hotel was in a fantastic location. Lobby area is nicely setup for relaxing and drinks. Did not appreciate a knock on my door from housekeeping team at 8.30am on Sunday. Who does this?! Would not return to the hotel I am afraid due to the numerous issues above."

"Such a relaxed stay. All the staff were so helpful and friendly - reception, breakfast, housekeeping. Our flight was cancelled and the hotel gave us the same rooms for an extra night without any fuss."

"The hotel staff are efficient, welcoming and resourceful. Property could use an update, especially carpets in rooms. Hairdryer was sticky, scratched terribly and should be replaced!! Location is walkable to stores, restaurants, museums, galleries and the cathedral, which is fantastic."
