"On arrival, the receptionist was friendly, professional. I asked for a sheet for my bed so I could remove the duvet/cover, she provided it straight away. Very clean. If anything, I would have appreciated a little fridge in the room. However, it wasn't advertised as having one, so it was definitely not an expectation. Just a thought. Good value for money and will definitely use Tibshelf again, if I'm in the area."

"We enjoyed our lovely brief stay for 3 nights. Dan our host was very helpful in directions & helped with any accommodation issues. He also directed us to a public path that leads down to the railway bridge, much fun waving to the train drivers at approximately 6:45pm onwards. Great walk for a dogs. The let is a beautiful cottage & it accommodated us & my cousin who has health issues. However, I will mention the stairs are steep which was a bit of a struggle for anyone with has problems.We went and had a lovely pub meal & brewery ales at The Poets Corner in Ashover, nearby. Recommended by Dan & it didn’t fail if you like old fashion country pubs & don’t forget to take the dog!!"

"The rooms were clean and comfortable, with air conditioning and windows that opened enough to provide good airflow. There were a couple of minor issues in the bathroom. The plastic trim around the shower base had a large hole, leaving sharp edges exposed, so you had to be careful not to catch your toes. The light above the mirror also had a bulb out. These were minor points, and the room was still lovely overall. The main issue for us was the mattress. Obviously, this is subjective, but both my partner and I found it quite uncomfortable and very firm. It was a spring mattress, and you could occasionally hear the springs "boing"! We both have back problems, and unfortunately, it didn't help. I had very little sleep over the two nights and ended up with a stiff back and aching hip. A more supportive mattress would make a big difference, although it may suit other guests perfectly well. There were also two large burn marks in the carpet, apparently caused by a previous guest leaving an iron on the floor. This isn't the hotel's fault but did detract slightly from the room. We ate at the pub and were very impressed. The food was excellent, portions were generous, and everything was freshly cooked and served hot. The staff were also extremely friendly, polite and welcoming. Overall, I would recommend staying here. The food and staff were excellent and the rooms were generally very good. Personally, though, the mattress would probably prevent me from returning."

"We enjoyed a lovely couple of days break for our anniversary. What a beautiful building so tastefully decorated.We could find no fault. The only thing I thought to suggest was some blankets to use outdoors in cooler evenings.We enjoyed our time at the Old Church and, like everyone else who had left comments in the guest book, would definitely recommend it to others. We wish we could have stayed longer.Jayne’s correspondence and help with finding out information for us was just great. Thank you!"

"Clean property with good space. Stairs exceptionally steep which could be issue for many visitors. Could do with a few extra touches to make a short stay easier - soap in both bathrooms, bin bags, etc....Towels - larger, fluffier, more would be good.Dining space & lounge were really nice to hang out in. Homely."
