Cool property with good location

Cool property, very safe with cams and code-locked door. No issues with noise, had a pretty quiet peaceful stay. Good parking situation, that’s something I was worried about but we never had problems parking. Unit is very close to transit lines. My girlfriend and I were out walking very late and never felt unsafe in this area.

Very Nice Place

I was in Chicago for a trade show at McCormick Place. It was close by so catching a Lyft of Uber was easy and affordable. The neighborhood feels safe, although it is a little older, you still don't feel unsafe there. It is very quiet. For me, there was no issue with sharing the bathroom or having other people there. No shoes worn in the home also was fantastic because not only did it cut down on the mess it also makes it quieter. The pillows are great and the bed is comfortable.

The outer and inside of the property was clesn and accommodating. What I didn't like was going thru a third party and checking in wasnt comprehensive right off top. The other guest were very helpful and welcoming

The room I was given was on the third floor. Building entry vestibule for second and third floors is small but manageable if you don't have much luggage. The room itself is a good size. The location is great for events at McCormick place, a short walk from a major bus route. The lightrail is easy to reach by walking or a short bus ride to the White Sox baseball stadium.

the guest house is no of a series of attached houses. the room was spartan. no soap, or any other amenity. the shower door would not stay closed. the room was clean and roomy. the owners, nor anyone else to talk to , are not there. they are remotely handing the place. because of this they send the lock information the day before they stay. would have liked to know this earlier.

Be sure you read over the details and have your expectations in the right spot for this property. Overall, it was clean and well organized. Think hostel without a front desk. It is a guest house similar to the set up I've experienced in South Korea. We were the only ones in the lower level so it was quiet, but I'm not sure what it would be like with other people. The kitchen did have a variety of pans and plates, but not too many. 1) GPS and Parking: The pin from the app took me to an alley. It was one street off. It has street parking -- isn't on the property, but at the property. Free, but first come first serve. 2) Contact the property before you arrive. I was expecting an email with specify arrival instructions, but that did not happen until I called. We made it work for us, but it wasn't exactly what we expected.

Guest House experience

Villa Dubois is just 10 minutes from UChicago Hospital, which was the reason for our two day stay. Easy access, super clean, comfortable, safe and secure. There is a full kitchen with all the necessary items and a comfortable dining and relaxing area for reading or television viewing. We were the only guests on the ground floor of the three available rooms that share the common space. This is a guest house and not a full service hotel. Look at the amenities that are provided so you have no surprises. Be sure you bring your own personal items such as shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Very tidy and clean. There is no front desk but the self check in is easy. Be sure to know the procedure before you arrive. I forgot to contact them 24 hrs before arrival to be prepared for the checkin. They were very accommodating and got me all the information I needed via email and text in a very short time. Very easy to access your own personal entrance. Great value for the budget conscious.

Beautiful Location but has Falling Fixtures

This accommodation was beautiful but several factors impacted my stay. I understand the unit I booked had shared facilities. Still, there were dishes in the sink on my arrival, and my socks became dirty attempting to follow the no shoes in the accommodation rule that the other three guests did not follow. The bathroom had visible grime/water marks/black marks across the tile in and out of the shower. I had to wear shoes in the bathroom due to the lack of cleanliness. The light fixture had a loose base detached from the ceiling above the sink. Then, the plastic face of the shower head came undone and fell on me during my first shower, and had to be repaired. The location is phenomenally beautiful!!! You're just 10 minutes from the green line, and several major north bound buses arrive just 3 minutes from the front door. I'd return again if the bathroom could be cleaned by staff more frequently and all fixtures were repaired.

This place made me and my girlfriend very uncomfortable there is a camera watching you as soon as you walk in upstairs and you are sharing a space that isn’t even cleaned properly daily not to mention you have to send a separate deposit via Zelle which they stated we would receive 3-5 days after checkout it has been 7 days still no refund I’ve been messaging them and calling them about the refund and a woman lied through her teeth saying it would be processed and switched up and said it was already processed then hung up in my face when I said which is it. Do not go here.

Villa Dubouis is a good guesthouse, however the security deposit complication and the area it lays in makes it difficult to call it great! Ah and yes the tv worked the first night but the sound did not work the second night! 😎
