My wife and I stayed at this property while visiting our son who was graduating from Northwestern University. The location to the university is fantastic. We also enjoyed how close the hotel is to the lake and the cycling/walking trail next to it. The hotel is also within easy walking distance to many great restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the rocking chairs in front of the hotel which is on a quiet street. The hotel provides a few 3-speed bicycles that are free to borrow but they are in disrepair (the one I borrowed had two broken spokes on the rear wheel). I suspect we were provided with a less than optimal room because we booked through Expedia (our room was across the hall from the service elevator and our view out of the window was the fire escape and a roof top. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

I enjoyed my three nights stay here while i was in town for a concert. the room was lovely. the only complaint regarding the room was the floors. one can tell it was not vacuumed and the bathroom floor wasn't swept or mopped due to the hairs found. Staff was friendly, at least some of them were. there was one lady with glasses, long black hair at the check in desk who was very unprofessional when my friend and i needed some assistance. the young lady was held occupied talking with another staff lady from the breakfast station as they only kept staring at my friend and i with disgusted looks and no assistance when asking for help regarding our luggage, checking out, and answering some questions we had.

This hotel is one of my favorites to stay in the Chicago area due to its convenience, cleanliness, and price. The neighborhood is beautiful, the lake is a quick walk away, and there’s plenty of delicious food in Evanston. Plus it’s only a 20 minute drive or so from Chicago proper. Parking is pretty easy though they extended 2 hour street parking until 9pm so you may need to park in a nearby garage during the day if you don’t want valet. The restaurant and bar inside the hotel are nice. My ONLY complaint is it’s not the most quiet since the building is old and the tiny elevator’s sound carries. I am a light sleeper and both times I’ve stayed here I struggled a bit with the clanking of the elevator and the loud shutting of doors from nearby rooms. That being said, I will always keep this place on my list of repeat hotels. It’s so clean and I love the classic collegiate decor. The staff are friendly and helpful. Location is fantastic if you want something a little slower paced than the heart of Chicago.

Wonderful hotel! I can highly recommend. I liked the decor and the student theme. Very unique and charming, as well as comfortable. Fantastic breakfast (try the overnight oats!). I was impressed by the knowledge and service mindset of the staff. They bent over backwards to let me check in early. It was very reasonably priced for the quality also.
