About this property
Comfy Garden Suite in Andersonville
A comfortable garden unit in a well cared for 3-flat, in a wonderful and safe neighborhood. Easy access to the lake front, dining and shopping. A great weekend getaway or a place to call home for a few months. Public transit is nearby, trains and express buses to downtown. Ride a bike home from downtown along the lakefront. A neighborhood on Chicago’s north side, Andersonville is known for its Swedish roots, historic architecture, and bustling urban main street, Clark Street. When you arrive in Andersonville, you feel you have arrived someplace special.
Note: Being a garden unit, take note of the dropped heating pipes, particularly if you are taller than 6'2". Please see pics.
While our roots are Swedish, we are also recognized as the “shop local capital of Chicago,” supporting the largest network of local and independent businesses in the area.
Home to one of Chicago’s largest LGBTQ+ populations, Andersonville is a community full of pride and a commitment to equality. * Parking is free on the street, no permits and easy * Public transit is nearby * Walk to neighborhood shops * Little known secret: Take express bus to downtown shopping in 20 mins along lake shore drive, optionally ride bike home along the lakefront. The train is also an option.
My favorite places are the Hopleaf for a Belgian style brewpub atmosphere, very popular and Little Bad Wolf for dining. There is so much along the Clark St strip for shopping, don’t miss the Andersonville Galleria, a collection of shops in one venue. The brown elephant is another interesting thrift store for treasure hunts. Everything is close to your location. You’ll also want to go to the lakefront, just walk east down Berwyn, then at Sheridan look for a parkway to the north of Berwyn at Sheridan to get to the lakefront parks, great place for a bike ride. Ride north and it gets busier along the path. You’ll notice a Mariano’s grocery store (my favorite one) at Sheridan and Foster (you can get to the lake from Foster as well). There are two other grocery stores close by as well, depending on the direction you are headed. Oh, another great spot you’ll need to book in advance… Chicago Magic Lounge, a newly renovated flashback to a mid century atmosphere with reminiscent cocktails and a cozy setting for a magic show, a unique experience.

The property was as described. The host was very responsive and took care of any issue or concern. The condo was quite and very clean. The area had plenty of shops and places to eat with in a short walk. I would stay here again.
Convenient, cozy and comfortable!!! The garden apartment has everything you need. Mark, our host was available and checked in a couple of times during the week. Highly recommend his cozy pad.
In for the weekend, Loyola college graduation , and take in a Cubs game. Great location, close to L train, restaurant on Clark and others good neighborhood
Warm, communicative host, well appointed lower level ground floor apartment with windows facing street. Lovely landscaping, near lake, and only a 5 minute walk to charming Andersonville. Clean, comfortable spot from which to explore Chicago. Would stay here again. Thank you Mark!
Very good stay at any time.
Benefit: there was coffee and cooled water when we arrive!
Internet works immediately and very fine.
Tv via Roku stick was so much choise and easy to handle.
Bedroom very nice and without noise! Slept like heaven.
A plus could be a toaster, but we are Germans so bred isn‘t easy to handle for us in the USA.
The location was great for us (walking distance from our son).Host Mark was friendly and made suggestions on renting bikes. We loved having the Lakeshore trail so close. The neighborhood was quiet and beautiful. Walking distance to many restaurants and the grocery store as well as the train. The apartment had everything we needed. We will absolutely stay there again.
The property is in an excellent location! Walking distance to both of our sons and blocks from the Midsommarfest which was perfect. It was easy to get checked in and out. Our only complaint is that there is an odd smell in the unit but other than that we enjoyed the quaintness and convenience.
Mark was very communicative and accommodating during our 5 day stay. This garden unit was in a perfect location for time spent in Andersonville/Edgewater, and only a short walk to the redline for downtown access. WiFi was good, furniture comfortable and building access easy. It is a garden unit, so sunlight is a bit low, but if you’re not spending a ton of time in the apartment, wasn’t an issue for us.
This place worked out perfectly for us and met all of our needs. It is important to understand the street parking signs because we saw many cars with parking violations. We were always able to find adequate parking at the very least. Also, many places we wanted to go were within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again!
The cutest apartment in a quaint safe neighborhood. Loved the building and front n back gardens. Mark, the owner, was on top of everything needed and even kept checking in to make sure my stay was as pleasant as could be.
****Highly recommend***
Such an adorable neighborhood. I’d highly recommend checking out Kopi Cafe and the other small businesses just a block away. Check-in was super easy, and Mark was very responsive throughout the entire stay. The space was cozy and stocked with anything you might need.
A delightful garden apartment in Andersonville (A quaint, friendly, fun, LGBTQ+ neighborhood on the north side). The host was communicative from the get go. It was clean and the perfect home away from home. Parking was easy and the neighborhood safe and walkable. I highly recommend!
