The main level of the home offers spaces for gathering with a large family room sectional (plus sleepers sofa), dining table for eight, plus kid's table! The open concept kitchen keeps everyone together with space for many cooks. Through the dining room glass doors, guests will enjoy outdoor patio seating plus a propane grill. Office space for two is just off the kitchen as well as a powder room. Up the stairs on the second floor, guests will find the primary bedroom with a King bed, private balcony, and dual-sink vanity bathroom with separate shower and tub. This level has two additional bedrooms, a second King bedroom and Twin bedroom with two twins, that share a second full bathroom. There is also a laundry closet on this level that guests may use. The top, third floor is a generous flex space with a large sectional, TV and room for play.
The homes gallery-white walls are the perfect backdrop for an incredible collection of primarily East African paintings. In the living room, guests will find vibrant pieces including Life is Beautiful by Nigerian artist Nike Okundaye, a framed batik of women in traditional Ugandan gomesi dresses by Lukandwa Dominic, and Friends in Love by Ronnie Ogwang (Uganda). Fresh Kenyan landscapes by Coster Ojwang bring the outside into the dining room and office where you'll also enjoy a large abstract painting by Deng Chol (South Sudan). The bedrooms feature works by Yisak Sahle (Ethiopia), Michael Soi (Nairobi), Lulu Kitolo (Kenya, Pamela Wingard (US), Zekiros Teklehaimanot (Ethiopia). The third floor features a view of the Indian Ocean by Fred Abuga (Kenya) and a dreamy-blue circle-of- life opus by John Bosco Muramuzi (Uganda). You'll also find many original pieces by the children of the house scattered throughout - a reminder that we are all born artists.

The place was very nice, cozy, clean, and spacious! It would be a great place to stay with young kids as they have lots of kid gear already at the house. Quiet neighborhood.
This quaint home was perfect for our family vacation weekend! Nestled in a quiet community but close to everything in Charlottesville. Super clean and fully stocked! Would highly recommend!
We visited this property for a friend getaway and had a great time. Everything was clean. The house was excellent for five 40+ year old guys to hang out, hike, and enjoy good food and breweries. It is in a great location, and the view from the back porch was fantastic on autumn mornings with a cup of coffee. We loved the third floor hang out room.
The attention to detail throughout the house is top notch, we had everything we needed and more! The one thing that would have improved our stay is ceiling fans in the bedrooms or at least portable fans. Great location, walkable and safe area, would stay here aga
The house was clean, comfortable, and spacious! My only criticism is several of the drawers in the kitchen and baths have lost the back to the knob so the handle kept falling off which made them hard to open. Also, it is great there was food/spices left behind from previous guests but the cleaning crew should go through that because most of the items were expired.
We came - two friends and our sons - for a weekend in Charlottesville. The home is great. Clean and well maintained - exactly as described. The third floor gave our boys their own tv space. There was plenty of room for everyone. We could easily walk downtown for great restaurants and were close to UVA. I highly recommend this property and would stay again!
Home was clean, beautiful, and smartly decorated. Check in & out was easy. Received quick & helpful service with the only issue that arose. The gas tank for the grill was empty, and when we called, they delivered & installed a full one in a timely manner :)
The home was warm and welcoming the moment I opened the door. The open floor concept allowed for inviting conversations in a comfortable setting. The bonus...the artwork! Walking into the different rooms daily with artwork representing various African artists was inspirational. I could stay here whenever I visit Charlottesville. I have shared the listing with several friends already. Thank you!
I brought 3 teen boys to Virginia for their first hiking experience. This home had an area where I had my own space with a bedroom and private bathroom and deck area. I could sit outside and enjoy a morning cup of coffee and an evening cocktail, while they had their own area upstairs where there was a loft with a TV. There was also a TV downstairs to watch something else if you desired . The kitchen came equipped with everything, if you wanted the option to make a meal. It was near downtown and only 40 minutes from Shenandoah National Park.
