We chose the suite because it had a small kitchen and a private terrace. You have to take fairly narrow spiral staircase to get upstairs but this was not a problem for us. We paid to have breakfast every morning. It was quite a small breakfast: coffee, white bread, croissants, cakes, juice and yogurt, but it got us started well. The service was excellent! We were...

Old Town Catania

Old Town Catania captivates visitors with its striking contrast of black volcanic stone against honey-colored Baroque palaces. The UNESCO-listed district reveals Sicily's layered history through ancient Roman ruins and medieval streets. Elephant Fountain stands proudly in Piazza del Duomo, while La Pescheria fish market buzzes with local energy. Wander through narrow cobblestone lanes to discover hidden architectural gems and authentic trattorias serving pasta alla norma. Mount Etna's presence is felt throughout the area in its distinctive building materials. Morning visits to the fish market offer a glimpse into daily Sicilian life that hasn't changed for centuries.

Borgo-Sanzio

Residential streets wind past local churches and small piazzas where neighbors gather under shade trees. The area offers a budget-friendly alternative to central Catania with easy access via train or bus. Enjoy fresh seafood at harbor-side trattorias or stroll along the Lungomare di Ognina with its scenic Ionian Sea views. Museums and coastal paths provide cultural and recreational options for curious travellers.

Catania City Centre

Catania City Centre draws visitors into Sicily's rich past with its dramatic black lava stone buildings and ornate Baroque architecture. The Cathedral of Sant'Agata dominates the historic Piazza del Duomo. Ancient Roman ruins emerge between medieval streets lined with wrought-iron balconies. Mount Etna looms majestically in the distance. La Pescheria fish market buzzes with local life and fresh seafood. Traditional trattorias serve regional specialities like arancini and pasta alla Norma. The Teatro Massimo Bellini offers spectacular opera performances. Compact and walkable, this UNESCO World Heritage area perfectly balances tourist attractions with authentic Sicilian daily life.

Contrada Pantano d'Arci

Contrada Pantano d'Arci reveals Catania's industrial character with a creative twist. This budget-friendly area mixes manufacturing facilities with emerging artistic spaces in converted warehouses. Wide streets and worker-focused trattorias offer an authentic glimpse of working-class Sicilian life. The area provides convenient access to the Catania-Palermo highway and railway connections. "I would highly recommend this place. It is near the heart of activity in the historic area. This gives you easy access to not only the Cathedral of Saint Agatha and other nearby landmarks, but also great restaurants and bistros. The streets are a little rough but I always felt safe. The elevator became a little comical with guests forgetting to shut both sets of doors upon exiting. We heard people on floor 2 discussing whether to intentionally leave the doors open. Thankfully they did not. The room was beautifully decorated. The bed and linens were very comfortable and luxurious. The staff was extremely helpful and gracious. They really made us feel cared for and helped us figure out an alternative travel plan when our flight out of Catania has been canceled due to airport closure. We will always remember the kindness of the staff and their driver. I would highly recommend this B&B as a great place to rest, relax and restore after a busy day out in Catania."

You'll find the city less congested than in peak summer, allowing for a more relaxed experience at popular attractions like the Duomo and the fish market.Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the quieter streets and comfortable dining experiences during the evenings.
