"We had a wonderful time here and can’t wait to go back! We spent 5 days here as part of our honeymoon and loved it. We spent our mornings out on tours and the hotel packed lunches for us to take with, and our afternoon by the pool sipping sangria. Can’t go wrong with that! It’s a very small resort but it made it that much better - laid back, quiet, good selection of food options for me that were gluten free, and friendly staff "

"Socalco is a truly gorgeous accommodation for a unique stay in Calheta. The entire property is beautiful, lined with gardens growing grapes, herbs, and vegetables under the scenery of a Madeiran coastal hill. Every corner of Socalco is tastefully decorated and the rooms have a clean and modern aesthetic that exudes comfort. The rooms boast views over the coast and breakfast is a true highlight, enjoyed on the terrace with a view over Calheta beach. Breakfast is also thoughtfully curated, with meats, cheeses, fruits, tea, coffee, and a cooked egg breakfast, all of exceptional quality. We were so pleased to stay here and we will absolutely return if we are back in Madeira. Treat yourself to even a few nights here, it's absolutely worth it!"

"A 5 star hotel this is not but a quaint and beautiful place to stay, with unbeatable views, it most certainty is. Nelson is absolutely second to none in the host stakes; a font of local information and recommendations for places to go, shop, eat like a local and enjoy every minute in Madeira.Calhetta is a great base to explore the island from. With a car, you can go anywhere; we went to Funchal and the main attractions there, up over the top of the island to the pools in Porto Moniz and intonthe interior to visitvthe Lavadas.If youre coming to Madeira you know (hopefully) that there's lots of walking and none of it is easy going. The slopes are steep and the steps go on and on so be prepared. For all that, and the 100 or so steps to and from your front door at Viewpoint House, this was an experience not to be missed.Thank you Nelson, for hosting us and your unquestionable generosity and kindness. "Beautiful view from the roof terrace and a great host. Nice kitchen with everything you need. Accessibility for those who are mobility restricted is more difficult so keep that in mind. Calheita is a nice village with good restaurants. Easy access by car to all hiking areas"
