"This hotel is a clear 8 out 10. Amazing location. Great hotel roof bar. Comfortable bed and decent TV. Big, comfy lobby. No wait at front desk. Water pressure was very strong and hot water came quickly. A/C was very good but a little noisy. The decor is cool retro. All that said, it is an old hotel and in need of updates to keep up with the younger ones. There is paint peeling and some of the common areas (eg elevators) are a little dirty. But. None of that impacted our comfort or stay. Some people complained of no coffee maker but there is a Starbucks just steps from lobby. Would stay here again for sure, but would not seek it out."

"I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The only problem was that I had no HOT water. It was barely tepid. However, the hotel gave me a $45 credit because of this problem. The bed was glorious: silky smooth sheets and firm mattress. The room was large and pretty. The hotel is attached to Grand Central Station so you don't even have to exit/enter through 42nd street should it rain or snow. Also, the $15 toward breakfast in their market was much appreciated. Were it not for the water problem (quite possibly unique to that room) I'd have rated the hotel a 5."

"Pictures are very deceptive - was one of the saddest looking rooms I have stayed in New York - dated, paint peeling, water stains, old carpet. The showers floor felt like you were walking on a wave pool - I don’t know how to describe it. Hopefully this is going through a massive renovation because this was a poor value for the money."
