It’s important to know that the Nacar hotel has 2 properties in Cartagena, each a block away from each other but very different hotels. This is not mentioned anywhere when booking. I ended up at the sister property which was noisy at night , didn’t have an elevator and doesn’t have a backup generator for when power goes out. Which it did during my stay. I do want to compliment the very friendly staff that I met while staying there.

We had a fantastic four-night stay at the Nacar! The property is lovely, the location is wonderful and the staff is absolutely wonderful! They were super friendly, helpful and really exceeded expectations. The breakfasts were delicious. Our room was gorgeous. We especially enjoyed the private pool. If you’re staying in the old walled city, definitely pick the Nacar. You’ll be glad you did!

We enjoyed our stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were cleaned to a high standard, the staff even came to the door in the evening, to see if there was anything else we needed, very nice touch. The hotel is in the quieter part of town, so you don’t hear all the noise late at night, but only a 10 min walk away if you want to be part of it. They also have a rooftop pool, which we took advantage of, to cool down in the afternoon.

This is the old Tcherassi Hotel. The property is clean and in a good location. The room we had was clean and comfortable. However, the staff is friendly but have lost that ‘special touch’ that the old administration had. The rooftop bar is just OK. It is ageing and is in need of a bit of love and tlc and it could do with a better music selection, especially during the day (techno at 10 am isn’t really my bag, especially if there is hardly anyone there. It’s just odd). The pool is ok/good but they need to provide more shadow as it is an absolute oven in the sun.

We had 8 great days at Hotel Nacar. I was there for a conference and the hotel was 1 kilometer from the convention center, and I walked it in 12 or so minutes every day. My husband was right in the middle of the historical area where he went sightseeing. We both enjoyed walking to many shops, museums, and places of cultural interest when I was free from the conference. But a special aspect to the hotel is Uma, a Peruvian restaurant that had superb food. We ate there numerous times. I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant.

The property is in a great location within the Wall City, close to shopping, dinning, and the sites. The hotel staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was very inconsistent on a daily basis as far as the options available and how the consistency of the cooking of eggs and pancakes. Housekeeping was exceptional. Overall would recommend staying at this property if in Cartagena.

I booked for a room with a sofa and balcony, they put me in a different room and I had to tell them to make changes the next day. I didn’t get a refund for the night I stayed in a smaller room. I got charged for the breakfast buffet even though my husband and I did not get anything from the buffet. Customer service was good and their employees were helpful but I don’t appreciate getting charge extra.

The hotel was private intimate. I unfortunately did not receive the room that I booked and had to listen to construction noise early in the morning of my visit. When contacting management to change my room, it was not accommodated. Very disappointing.

The rooms were very big and clean. The lobby area was not very charming, and the views from the room were not what I was hoping for whatsoever. When I called to change my room they said nothing else was available but I didn’t see more than 2 other couples the entire stay. It was a very comfortable bed but I think you can get better hotels for the price.

Curio Collecion Cartagena the worst experience
The hotel was terrible. Really torn down, not a great experience, plus the elevator doesnt work and didnt the A/C. It i well located but the service especially the waiters in their restaurants are horrible. we had a horrible experience were the chef didnt clean properly the fish we ate and we had a fishbone stuck in one of our famiy members and ended up in the hospital. when we confronted the hotel manager about the situation he said he wouldne be responidible for the hospital bill, imagine that! if you actually stay there, dont let the concierge choose a resstaurant for you because he will automatically give you a table in one of their restaurants which are terrible. its a cheap hotel, you should go stay at sofitel santa clara which is amazing and has the best breadkfast buffet in all cartagena.

This property is a gem in Cartagena. The only disappointment was that the restaurant was in renovation and we did not notified in advanced. I would considered other hotel.
