The Nantahala River House was just what our family was looking for. It has a beautiful view of the river; cozy and comfortable accommodations; and a convenient location.
The cabin is great. Nicer than in the pictures. Just on the shores of the rivers. All the facilities worked well. Nolan our host was extremely helpful and nice. Its the perfect place to relax and only 30 minutes away from great smoky mountains National park. We firmly recommend staying here!
I don't think the location can be beat - riverside and peaceful. The extensive descriptions of the property are accurate. Everything you need from a comfy place for a nice weekend boating.
This property is directly on the Nantahalla River with room to play at the rivers edge. their are very few homes on the river with this type of access. it is a real gem. Our host, Nolan, was very helpful. We will stay here again.
If you’re looking for a place “on the river” you won’t get closer than here. Breathtaking views and the peaceful surroundings make this a fantastic spot to unwind, and unplug. Our children 7,8, 9, spent the trip catching fireflies and playing in the river. There was no begging for a tablet, TV, or video game. The only negative to our visit was having to head home. Can’t wait to come back.
The cabin is located right on the Nantahala river. We went for trout fishing. Unfortunately the river was held high for our entire trip, so fishing was not good there. I suspect it was due to the flooding in NC, but I don't know that for certain. If you are going to trout fish behind the cabin be sure to check water level plans with Duke Energy in advance (if possible). That said, there are numerous other rivers to fish within a 30 minute drive.
The cabin is old, and not as nice as in the photos (much older than the photos) BUT it has everything you need, the beds are comfortable, and everything works! You can't say that for many VRBO stays. The house, while old, was VERY clean.
This was one of the best hosts I have ever worked with. He called prior to discuss our needs. He communicated extremely well, and I felt comfortable speaking with him.
So, if you are looking for an upscale vacation spot on a river, this is not the place for you. But if you don't mind an old house that does the job in an absolutely beautiful location, then this will definitely work. I would call it a fishermans/hikers/outdoors person's place. We enjoyed our stay.
We came for my daughter to go to kayak camp at NOC and this was a great place to spend the week. Host was attentive and on top of anything we could have needed.
This place is fabulous ! Everything was perfect. Nothing better than sitting on the deck watching the water go by. And briefly talking to rafters as they went by.
Beautiful, natural setting. The sound of the water is so relaxing.
This is a wonderful home literally overlooking the Nantahala River.
The owner assisted all throughout the process from beginning to end making it an easy and enjoyable experience. I would love to visit again.

Location, location, location!
Great spot on the river, walked across the road to go white water rafting and got excellent Carolina BBQ right next door for lunch! It's all about location here and getting unplugged (no TV or internet and limited phone service). We certainly may be back next year, thanks.
