Cedar Nook is a charming farm cottage with panoramic mountain views. Observe cattle on pasture, watch crop harvest in season, or just relax inside or on the porch. A grove of cedar trees give privacy from the nearby road, but you can hear traffic - especially the farm trucks and tractors as they go by. The cottage is 6 miles from Interstate 81, and 5 miles from Bridgewater, a college town featuring many services and supplies plus fine parks.
The cottage is 14 feet wide and the length is 28 feet. Wide doorways and a ramp from the parking area to the porch make the downstairs wheelchair friendly. The first floor is approved as a residence and the upstairs is approved by zoning regulations for storage.

Charming quiet getaway

We had a lovely and peaceful stay at the Cedar Nook cottage, while we prepared and raced in the Shenandoah 100k mountain bike race. Ferne was great and all of the amenities provided were appreciated and enjoyed! The place was clean and extremely quiet and restful!

10/10 amazing property to stay at! Ferne and family went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was hassle free having everything available and ready for us to use when we got there. They even offered to start a fire for us while we were out getting dinner. It was extremely windy but the thought was incredibly nice. The vibe was loving and warm and I cannot wait to book another stay at this cottage again!!

Amazing Little Cottage

This cute little cottage has just about everything you need for a warm, countryside visit. It’s very close to both Harrisonburg and Staunton. Even with my tall stature of 6’6” I was comfortable in this cottage. The family hosting the property is very warm and inviting while also being non invasive of your space and privacy, I would definitely stay here again!

JMU Graduation Stay

We had a lovely one-night stay at the cottage. Short drive to JMU and so relaxing. Spent time swinging on the porch with a cup of coffee while enjoying the farm and mountain view’s. Ferne is a wonderful host. She stocked the fridge with breakfast so we could eat and get to the ceremony on time.

Great views

This is a lovely property in a pretty rural area. From the front porch you can watch the sun rise over the mountains. The cabin is comfortable and well-appointed and the hosts are super. I'll stay here again.

Relaxing cottage with a “Wow” view

We thoroughly enjoyed the most welcoming, cozy and clean cottage! Ferne & David provide everything you could need and then some! The cottage is on a hill overlooking the most wonderful scenic country view! Look forward to staying again!

This property truly exceeded our expectations for a stay! Our host was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, and went above and beyond being helpful! She truly went the extra mile, including bringing us fresh baked cookies and chopping extra wood so we could have fresh firewood after a rain! We could not recommend this place more!!

Lovely farm setting cottage with warm hospitality

This cottage had beautiful views all around us of the mountains as we set nestled in the valley. The host was extremely hospitable and provided so many things above and beyond for our pleasure during our stay. We enjoyed a nice fire with provided hot dogs and smores, plus corn hole to play. The cottage was clean and perfect space for us to relax. It was also within a close distance of many places to visit and explore!

Quaint Country Experience

Take a step back in time and enjoy the quaint countryside of Augusta County. The owner made our experience highly personalized by providing a lit campfire, wonderful snacks, and a fully stocked cabin. We really enjoyed our short visit and their impressive views!

Excellent stay all around.

This was an excellent stay all around. The location was beautiful, the lodging was very comfortable, and the hosts were lovely. The one thing that stood out most to me is how very thoughtful the hosts have been in setting up the cottage - with plenty of minute details throughout the house that really add charm and warmth to the place. It feels that the hosts take real pride in this and it really shows. Frankly - this was one of the best places I have stayed in a very long time. Hopefully we will do it again soon!

The owner was very nice. Showed us around and told us about all the amenities. She even stocked the refrigerator with some food, milk and yogart which was so helpful because we were so busy the entire time we stayed. The beds were comfortable and we had great nights of sleep. Thank you!

A little peace of heaven

For us it was a nice, relaxing getaway from the daily hustle and bustle of city life. The charming cottage offered us a peaceful retreat with stunning views. Our host Fern was an angel, she answered our every queries promptly, she greeted us in person despite arriving late at night, checked back with us the following day!! The refrigerator and pantry were fully stocked, and the place was so thoughtfully and tastefully furnished. We'll definitely be back!!

Beautiful Location!

This was a fly fishing fishing birthday trip for my hubby and everything was great! The cottage location is pretty central to lots of things to do! It was very quiet and peaceful. This has nothing to do with the property but it is significant enough to mention. The area is packed full of poultry farms and when driving anywhere in the area, there is the worst smell you will ever smell in your life! Turn on the recirculate button for the air in your car and it helps tremendously. Ferne went above and beyond with birthday flowers and balloons. There was fresh eggs in the refrigerator and lots of snacks and other breakfast food. It was the perfect couples retreat!
