Gîte de Chantegrel: Authentic Périgord style, saltwater swimming pool near SARLAT

  • Small stone house of about 49m2, comprising on the ground floor, an equipped kitchen area, a living room with a table and 4 chairs as well as a sofa bed.

    A bathroom equipped with a shower, a sink and a toilet.

    Upstairs, a closed mezzanine, with bunk bed and an independent bedroom with double bed of 140.

    Baby equipment is available (high chair, cot with mattress and bathtub).
    CLEANING AT 40€ FOR 2-3 NIGHT STAYS (which only we can change).

    Outside a pergola with garden furniture and a barbecue facing the pool. A beautiful swimming pool (shared with the other two cottages) of 13.5m x 4.5m will allow you to refresh yourself all day long and will be particularly appreciated when you return from your visits.

    A small haven of peace, the two hectares of Chantegrel in the Périgord Noir are there to make you forget your daily life. Only 3 km from the medieval town of Sarlat la Canéda and close to the main tourist sites (Lascaux, Les Eysies, chasms and caves, troglodyte village, castles of the Dordogne valley).

    A pleasant stay in perspective in an authentic Périgord house

    Don't worry, sheets as well as towels and tea towels are provided.

    You will be located at the gates of the capital of the Périgord Noir, renowned for its monumental adornment dating mainly from the medieval period and the beginning of the Renaissance (13th to 16th century). You will be able to appreciate its markets where the specialities of the region are sold: foie gras, duck breasts, truffles, ceps, figs and walnuts.

Zu viele Mängel

Um es vorweg zu nehmen: eine wunderschöne Anlage! Leider ist die Anfahrt kaum möglich, da viele, viele Schlaglöcher. wir hatten 2 Schlafzimmer gebucht. Vorgefunden haben wir ein Schlafzimmer und ein Stockbett auf dem Gang. Das Dach leider undicht, wir sind früher abgereist als Regen angesagt war. Am schlimmsten aber die Treppe nach oben. Zu steil, die Luke zu eng, Kopf anschlagen vorprogrammiert. Da die Lichter von unten geschaltet werden muss man nachts im Dunkeln runter und das wird richtig gefährlich. Schade, viele Mängel und das bei einer wunderschönen Außenanlage.

Entspannung pur

Ein wirklich schöner Ort und sich zu erholen und diese Gegend zu erkunden. Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet was man so für eine Urlaubswoche braucht. Einziger Nachteil ist die Treppe nach oben. Für größere Menschen oder mit Handicap kann sie eine echte Herausforderung sein. (siehe Foto- steil, gedreht und Durchgang eingeschränkt).

Initial confusion over check in was quickly resolved by email/call to responsive host. Tiny and cute but stairs to upper floor need agility to negotiate. Bring your own staples. Distance to shops made total lack of kitchen supplies inconvenient.

Beautiful setting

This old barn is set in a tranquil valley, overlooking ancient woodland. The property itself is full of character, but it is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues - access to the bedroom is a tight squeeze up the stairs! Equipment is generally very basic and missing some essential items such as a cafetière ( the corkscrew was broken). The pool is beautifully clean and was very welcome in near-40 degree temperatures. Overall, we had a wonderful few days in Proissans as it is so peaceful. Be sure to visit Sarlat de Canéda - so much to see (and eat!!)

Déception pour la location!

Nous savions que la maison était petite, mais pas à ce point! Trop exigu. L'accès à la chambre, une épreuve!!! presque de l'escalade; Location pour des jeunes... Dommage car le site est agréable, calme avec une belle piscine que nous n'avons pu utiliser du fait du temps. Nous avons quand même passé un bon séjour car la Dordogne est magnifique!
