I cannot recommend
Most of the rooms are not in the beautiful, historic building you see on the photos, but rather on a huge underground extension they built underneath. Because of the sloped terrain, rooms face the back of the building and don't seem apparent when looking at the original palace building. These rooms are below-grade and face busy train tracks, and they are quite close to them. The noise and, often, the vibration of trains passing by made our stay very unpleasant, it really was hard to get a good sleep. Rooms also feel tired and outdated, but they are otherwise spacious and comfortable. The grounds and surroundings are nice. Very limited parking within the hotel, but we found plenty of space in the hospital's parking lot across the street. I do not recommend the restaurant at the back of this hotel, despite the views and outdoor patio.

Unique beautiful building, short walk to metro to Bilbao, safe parking, staff spoke excellent English, spacious room. Didn’t like restaurant which served the worst meal we’ve had over 10 day vacation. Food was flavorless, meat was terribly dry. Google maps did not find correct location so we hired an Uber to let us follow to the hotel. Streets are difficult if you don’t know the area.

Not a 4 star hotel, very expensive for what offers
Not a 4 star hotel AT ALL! In the room you find not even half liter water bottle, no toothbrush, just some SMALL shower gel and shampoo "bottle". VERY, VERY noizy due to trains passing just couple of meters to hotel. Only one reception stuff understood me that I could not sleep and changed the room. The other ones were arogant, anyway NOT 4 STAR HOTEL EMPLOYEE! When client claims the noise from trains, WE MAKE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO MAKE HIM HAPPY, NOT TELL HIM IMMEDIATELY "NOT POSSIBLE"

That`s the difference.
we enjoyed our four night stay and would book again. the hotel is well documented on various review/hotel sites and generally, we agree with the comments so no repitition required. two things; 1/ stretch your budget and go for the best room configuration possible, 2/ whatever you decide, you will be in the best possible hands- the team of staff here are worthy of 10/10 throughout....from top to bottom, side to side, an impeccable approach to customer service. That`s the difference.

The hotel was fine. It did the job. It's in a good location being so close to the train station - getting into Bilbao is very easy. Some nice places to eat just down the road. Rooms were fine, pretty standard affair, although cleaned to a high standard. Biggest disappointment was the service. Staff at check in and check out were cold and unwelcoming, bordering on rude. Very much not in keeping with how friendly I found Spanish people to be in general. The hotel bar is also a waste of time and not worth visiting. There was no outside seating at all despite clearly having space for it, and it normally being there (according to staff) presumably because it wasn't summer. At the end of the day it does the job.

This unique propery was once a grand home overlooking the water in Santurtzi. Fabulous, spacious rooms, a bar with plentiful seating, and a restaurant with delicious food! Confortable beds, on-site underground oarking, and an atmosphere of early 29th century splendor. Loved everything!

Hotel near port of Bilbao
The reason we picked this hotel is the great location to the port of Bilbao. However, the hotel’s underground parking (fee required) has limited spaces and it is very difficult to park especially if you have a larger vehicle.

We found the hotel to be set in beautiful grounds and in a very good location to Bilbao port. Reception staff were ok. Bedroom very clean and comfortable. Restaurant had one waiter who appeared to be rushed off his feet with only 3 tables occupied. We ordered the crispy chicken with barbecue sauce for our starter. I feel it came Straight out of the freezer into the fryer, plenty of it but tasteless, no garnish and looked bland. We ordered steak and chips for our main and we had to send it back. It was undercooked under seasoned and cold and full of un rendered fat. It came back not much better, the chips you could snap in half all the crispy bits you get at the bottom of the frozen bag. We did complain nicely and the waiter very kindly (not) gave us a free drink I did explain that the drink wasn’t the problem but it fell on deaf ears. They also had no wine list due to COVID €64 later feels like we have been mugged. Total bill for the one night €224 Shop around, if you do stay maybe take a walk and find a restaurant that serves home cooked palatable food.

Disappointing
No food, bar and restaurant were closed due to covid, nothing was mentioned on your web site, after a long journey I had to go and find a cafe! Fridge in the room didn’t even have any water in it! No mention of the train track running right outside the room! Very noisy train track which ran late into the eve and again early morning. Very very disappointing!

We love the hotel friendly staff, the only problem the noise from the trains that are quite close to the rear of the hotel. The car park underground is very good but a long walk to the lifts and hotel reception. We had a huge bedroom and a separate changing area and bathroom. The room was designed for disabled persons but had a low bath with a seat to enable my wife to shower but her problem is lower body function and found it hard to get into the bath a walk in shower would have been more suitable. All in all an excellent hotel and a quarter of an hours drive to the ferry port, very convenient.

Very interesting, thought the parking charge was rather expensive at 15€, but at least you could relax knowing your car was safe. Breakfast excellent, so much choice. The bathroom we had , just needed a slight refurbish of the grout etc. A beautiful building heaped with history and so convenient for the ferry. Would definitely stay again .

Pleasant overnight stay
Stopover for ferry journey the following day. The hotel is situated a very convenient short distance from the ferry terminal, about 15 mins. Has a nice little restaurant so no need to go hunting for food around and about after a long journey. Have stayed here before and would stay again. Also has secure parking.

Disappointing! On a railway line!!!
Our room was facing the railway line. The noise was terrible! We couldn’t sleep without having a window open as the air conditioning system was not working and it was too warm in the room! Unfriendly reception on arrival. When we arrived to the hotel the access to parking and hotel entrance was completely inaccessible to check in!

The inexpensive rooms are under the castle building on the basement with nevertheless a view. The room is okay but the main building is a maze especially if you come in from the underground parking lots. The direction signs are misleading and the hotel staffs are not that helpful. Though the location is good given it is only 10 mins walk from the bridge and the town center

Very convenient for the ferry terminal and absolutely fine for one or two nights. Food in the restaurant was good and very reasonably priced. The hotel is built on a very steep hill so the layout is a little odd and confusing but our room was perfectly fine. On the down side getting into the bays in the underground car park is scary and at 15 euro per night is expensive. Also the Bilbao metro station at the back of the hotel can be a bit noisy when you are trying to get to sleep.

Was most disappointed could not get the WiFi to connect because the room was on the lower ground there were no refreshment ie coffee and tea making facilities the bathroom door was swollen possibly due to damp and would not close and the floor was not cleaned properly to get to the room we had to go along a long dimly lit passage and the carpet in the passage was old dirty and stained
