The hotel is in Bath, it's the un up to Christmas, and so you expect hotels to be expensive and busy. But this did not live up to the cost. The room was pleasant enough, not huge, but nicely appointed. Yet we had a range of issues which really undermined our stay.
Firstly, the room was noisy with large fans just outside the window cranking away all the time.
Secondly, we ordered some simple room service - which took over an hour to arrive. When I say simple, I mean a salad and a cold meat platter. Hardly stuff that takes much preparation.
Thirdly, we had to book a slot for breakfast and the times available were either quite early in the morning or too late for us. There seemed to be very little flexibility around breakfast slots. And yet at the weekend, I don't want to have to agree to a quite specific timed slot for breakfast - it makes it all seem a bit rushed and hassled.
The hotel has a restaurant which looks pretty good, but no capacity was made for hotel guests. So we could not eat in the restaurant because we had not booked before - well not before quite late in the evening. I'm used to staying in hotels that have restaurants which are effectively stand alone businesses in their own right, but at least some capacity is reserved for guests normally.
It's a very nice looking hotel, but I'm not sure they have thought through the needs of hotel guests, especially when it comes to food. Instead restaurant bookings get the priority and there is no secondary option.
