The hotel is fine. There is a construction on site. My review is because I asked for a taxi to one of their staff and they said I should wait 30 minutes and I iwas ok with that. The inconvenience is that after that time they said the taxi is unavailable because they can't reach the zone. A clearly lie because there were several taxis around the street.

Good, central location with a Metro station within 5 minutes walk in either direction. However, the hotel itself is a little tired and dated and definitely feels more 3 star than 4 star, especially given the lack of facilities (no bar, no room service, no dining other than breakfast). Breakfast itself was the usual european fare (bread, meat and cheese, pastries etc) with the typically poor attempt at bacon and eggs and not an English tea bag in sight! On the plus side, the staff were all very pleasant and accommodating and the beds were comfortable but, although it was good value for money, I’ll probably look elsewhere the next time I’m in Barcelona

I wouldn’t think that this was a 4 star hotel based off of its rooms (sink didn’t work, bedding was stained and we got twin beds not a double), the breakfast (terrible, we didn’t eat there after day 1) and it’s dated decor in the rooms (cracks everywhere, mould in the bathroom, noisy doors everywhere). It was quite noisy (don’t get room 214) and we reported a couple of the above and it was sorted but no reason or explanation. We were advised by one team member we could vacate our room at 20 mins past the deadline but was called twice and berated as to why we hadn’t left yet, despite explaining. We found out that the team member was incorrect and he shouldn’t have said anything to us apparently. It’s a good location but I would say this hotel is a one night stay maximum, for the amount of money we spent we were expecting a higher standard.

Pros:First off we loved how close this was to everything! It was in a perfect spot. The front desk lady was very nice and helpful. Con: The rooms were very loud. We were woken up just about every night around 1-3am by people talking and slamming doors. We also had to switch rooms because after a 12hr plane ride the first thing I wanted to do was take a shower. Took a shower and went to turn the water off and everything was electrified. Yes I was shocked pretty wild soaking wet in the shower. So managed to get out and think about what just happened. Dryed off and continued to quickly place a finger on the water faucet in the shower 7 separate times to justify that I wasn’t crazy. Yupp it was electrified. So went down to the front desk and tried to explain what happened but I don’t think they fully understood and any normal human being probably wouldn’t have understood this situation either but they managed to get us another room at that moment so I’m happy that got fixed. I also don’t feel as if the photos on the website don’t represent the actual rooms at all. Both our rooms were very very small and just felt dirty in general.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, staff and the fact that the company that runs it hire people with disabilities. It is definitely not a 4 star property. I would rate it 3 stars, so it was very overpriced for what we expected. The room was basic. It was spacious and clean. The bathroom needs updating. Some of the tiles on the floor were loose. The perks of daily water and complimentary coffee was spotty. Some days we got water and others none. There was only tea bags provided so we presumed coffee was not an option, however, on the day before our departure coffee packages showed up. There were no English TV channels. We asked the front desk about it and the gentleman said he would have the technical people look into it, however, during our entire stay of 8 nights, there was nothing in English. The staff was friendly and willing to help with directions. The location was convenient to everything.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel a lot. We originally got placed in a handicap accessible room that did not have a tub and when we asked if we could get a standard room they were quick to change. The team was all very kind and helpful when we needed help. Great stay and walkable to tons of places!

Great central location for all areas Hotel was easy to locate. We have been to the Malaga IlUnion a few times hence the reason we picked the Barcelona hotel but found the Barcelona a lot smaller with fewer facilities and smaller bedroom bathroom but it was just a couple of nights and somewhere to base so unless you are expecting lots of room and facilities you would be disappointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful rooms were clean. Thanks!

Definitely not a 4 star property, maybe 3 tops. Tiles on bathroom floor were loose, weird layout with toilet right at the doorway and bidet 4 ft away. Barebones room but good for a night pre-cruise, only €15-20 taxi to terminal. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was pretty good. Construction on via laietana right in front of hotel so hard to do drop-off and pickup, but there’s designated taxi zone about 100 m across the street.

No air conditioning. Very very small room. Looking outside from window, you see a terrible dirty environment. I am taking about back of the hotel. There was 2 hours electricity turn off on Sunday morning so we did not have electricity and light in the room. I cant imagine if this would happen before leaving the hotel, packing etc. The turn off was planned but nobody understood this from hotel mananegement . Information about this was very weak. A notice was only on hetel walls, not delivered to individual ros etc.

This is my second time as a guest at this hotel and once again I am very pleased with my stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the staff are helpful and friendly, particularly the gentleman who works on the reception desk, who’s name is Carlos. He is a very nice man, he is amiable, polite and is a great asset to the hotel. Overall I can thoroughly recommend the Hotel Ilunion Almirante and will stay there again on my next trip to Barcelona. I love this hotel. It is simple,but clean, and the beds are so comfortable. The concierge desk personnel are terrific, especially Karen. The breakfast is hearty. The convenience of location in the Gothic quarter is the best. I am especially pleased with the hiring of special needs personnel. A highlight of the visit.

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
This is NOT a 4 star hotel. At best, it’s a 2. It’s really outdated, and dirty and the pictures are not representative of this property. Staff was okay but not very hospitable. Not rude but definitely not welcoming or friendly like other hotels in Barcelona.
