Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Balahovit?
The best area to stay in Balahovit is generally around the central part of the village, particularly near its main square and the surrounding streets.

This area offers convenient access to local amenities and provides a good base for exploring the region. While Balahovit is a smaller village, its central hub allows for easy walks to local shops and eateries. The general layout is relatively compact, making it simple to navigate on foot.

For travellers looking for a tranquil escape, staying in the residential areas just outside the immediate centre can be ideal.
When is the best time to go to Balahovit?
While Balahovit itself is a small village without extensive tourist infrastructure, the best time to visit the surrounding Kotayk Province, where Balahovit is located, is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to October).

These periods offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the region's historical sites and natural beauty. Spring brings blossoming landscapes, while autumn showcases beautiful foliage and a comfortable coolness. It's the great time for couples or solo travellers looking to enjoy hiking, sightseeing, and cultural excursions without the extreme heat of summer or the cold of winter.

For those interested in winter sports, the peak season for the nearby Tsaghkadzor ski resort is typically from December to March.
