The accommodation features a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, refrigerator, and freezer. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower. Highlights of the former farmhouse include the old tiled stove, the wooden beam ceilings, and the hardwood floors. Three small tortoises live in the garden; they enjoy meeting animal-friendly visitors and can be fed with the food provided. (During the cold season, the turtles hibernate.)
From the west-facing terrace of the living room, you have a beautiful view of the garden and can enjoy the sunset.
The vineyards are just a few minutes’ walk away, and from there you can see all the way to the Palatinate Mountains. There is a very well-developed network of hiking and biking trails here. Maps are available at the accommodation or can be obtained at the tourist information office. The Kraichgau hills, with their gentle slopes, offer a wide variety of tours; the sunken paths are particularly noteworthy. We’d be happy to recommend our favourite tours. In the summer, the nearby quarry lake with its sandy beach is a great place to cool off. In winter, the cities of Heidelberg and Karlsruhe are known for their Christmas markets and circus events.
The holiday rental is well-located for reaching various destinations, such as the technology museums in Sinsheim and Speyer, the Sinsheim Conveyor Technology Museum, the IMAX 3D theatre, the Therme Sinsheim sauna complex, the Karlsruhe Natural History Museum, the Europabad Karlsruhe, and the Karlsruhe Palace Park and Zoo.
In Mannheim, we recommend Luisenpark with its TV tower, as well as the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums.
In Heidelberg, explore the Old Town with its castle, the banks of the Neckar, the Königsstuhl, and the Arboretum (giant sequoias).
Mannheim, Karlsruhe, and Heidelberg are all easily accessible in about 30 minutes without changing trains via the S3 line.
The location here in town is in a traffic-calmed side street. Free parking is available not far from the house.
The train station (Langenbrücken Süd), post office, ice cream parlour and pastry shop, restaurants, Sparkasse bank, bakery, Rewe, Aldi, Netto, chemist, and doctors’ offices are all within a 5–10-minute walk. In the Mingolsheim district, you’ll find the newly redesigned spa park with a large water playground and the Bad Schönborn thermal baths.
The holiday rental is located on the ground floor (mezzanine) of a two-family house.
As the property owners, we live in the second apartment on the top floor and are happy to assist you. We do not necessarily recommend this accommodation for people seeking peace and solitude. We also use the garden and courtyard area in front of the holiday rental’s terrace. The terrace also serves as a passageway, so the setting has a more family-friendly atmosphere.
To make your travel preparations easier, we provide the following in the holiday rental:
Hair dryer, toilet paper, soap, small towels,
; the rental fee for bed linens and large shower towels is €10 per person
; salt & pepper, vinegar & oil, herbs & spices, ground coffee & coffee filters, sugar, parchment paper, paper towels, dishcloths, dish soap, cleaning supplies
; storage space for your own bicycles
; 2 mountain bikes, 2 children’s bikes, and 1 women’s bike available for a deposit
If you need anything else, we’ll be happy to help. If you plan to arrive by train, we’ll of course pick you up with your luggage at the station—please be sure to contact us before your arrival.
