Hotel Palacio de los Velada

Hotel Palacio de los Velada

8/10 Good
"The hotel location next to the Cathedral is really convenient and the historic architecture inside is stunning. The housekeeping staff are lovely. The breakfast buffet is generous. For travelers arriving at odd hours, it would be good for them to stock the mini bar with some snacks in addition to the bottles of water. Great value for money."

"This is a fantastic hotel all around. The rooms are well appointed, the property is well maintained, and you can't beat the location across from the cathedral within the city walls. The price was extremely reasonable for a four star hotel. We will be back!"

Hostal la Estación

Hostal la Estación

10/10 Excellent
"We honestly cannot fault our stay here. The staff, although they said they spoke little English, they were incredibly helpful! The room is what you pay for. It was spacious and had its own private bathroom and it was clean. The room also provided you with towels and some toiletries/toothbrushes which was very handy. The hostel is situated right next to the train line but having said this, we had no disturbance from the trains passing through. In fact I think we even forgot we were next to a train line at one point. The accommodation is a short 10-15 minute walk into main Avila. There you can see/visit the Walls of Avila, the Cathedral and many other beautiful historic spots. Every morning we went to a little cafe, just across from the hostel, I think it was called Costellos? But it was so lovely and very reasonably priced. The locals are very friendly and helpful and Avila as a whole just felt so safe. We would definitely stay here again if we were to visit."

"It’s a small family hotel very close to Saint Teresa’s natal home church. Wish they had coffee cafe available early with perhaps a machine. Even though limited staff, Norma was very helpful and a sweetheart. On the negative side, there are no close restaurants or shops but the walk into the busier plazas was not bad at all and it was an easy walk to out the walls Lienzo Norte. Will definitely stay there again. Thank you to the owner 👏!!!"

When is the best time to go to Ávila?
The best time to visit Ávila is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is most pleasant for exploring.During spring, the temperatures are mild and comfortable, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This period avoids the intense heat of summer and the chill of winter, making it ideal for walking along the city walls and exploring the historic streets. You'll find the city's gardens and parks, such as the Jardín de San Vicente, in bloom, adding to the visual appeal.Autumn offers similarly agreeable weather, with temperatures usually between 10°C and 20°C. The crowds tend to be smaller than in peak summer, allowing for a more relaxed experience at popular attractions like the Cathedral of Ávila and the Convent of Santa Teresa. This season also provides beautiful autumnal colours, particularly around the city's green spaces.Families with children might find the shoulder seasons particularly appealing as the milder weather is more suitable for outdoor activities without the discomfort of extreme heat or cold.
