The best area to stay in Aulas is the village centre, particularly around the church and the main square.

This central part of Aulas offers a quiet and traditional French village experience. You'll find charming stone houses, local shops, and a few small eateries, all within easy walking distance of each other. The area around the Église Saint-Pons d'Aulas is particularly picturesque, with narrow lanes and a real sense of local life.

Families often find this area ideal due to its tranquil environment and access to local amenities. The village square provides a pleasant open space for children, and the slower pace of life makes it easy to relax. Being centrally located means you're well-placed for excursions into the surrounding Cévennes National Park.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat, the village centre provides a romantic setting. The beautiful natural surroundings are great for walks and exploring, and the local restaurants offer a taste of regional cuisine.

The best time to go to Aulas is during the late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the region is less crowded.

Late spring offers warm, sunny days great for exploring the surrounding Cévennes National Park. The landscape is lush and green, and wildflowers are in full bloom. It's an ideal time for walking and experiencing the natural beauty of the area without the intense heat of summer.

Early autumn also provides comfortable temperatures and beautiful scenery as the leaves begin to change colour. This period is excellent for those who prefer cooler weather for outdoor activities and wish to avoid the peak tourist season of July and August.
